Help with rolled 03...
My poor 03 tacoma decided to test it's rubber at some freestyle the other day and didn't manage to keep it rubber side down. All joking aside, I ran off the road and slid off a 8' bank landing upside down in a shallow creek. The motor and frame all seem fine, nothing looks shorter than normal and it was a low speed collision where I pretty much flipped off the road and fell completely upside down. My insurance is, well...I'd prefer not to talk about it [image] . I'm hoping there is some way I can fix the truck. The cab is squashed and the pillars, esp. drivers side are bent but still "look" straight at the bottom. Is it feasable to cut the roof off and weld a new one on, given you can find a donor roof? The doors still line up and the back window is still intact. I know it's hard to picture, so I'll get some photos up later this evening. Just looking for some advice? Maybe I should just remove the body and build a roll cage?

It appears as if we do not actually have full coverage although we were under the impression that we were. We're trying to work with the insurance company, but in the mean time I am looking for plan B.

I'd say you're probably best off taking it to an autobody shop and getting a quote on how much to weld a new top on it. There are other options, but I none of them are going to look very pretty or functional.
My dad had a new top put on his Tacoma once he got in an accident -- not cheap, but your truck is new enough to justify it.

DONT SELL IT TO A RUSSIAN!!! They will put it back on the STREET...imagine how shotty the work is to buy it, AND fix it, aND make profit!
I cast my vote for rag top, or just cage it. Chop it off at the pillars, make 1/2 doors, etc. Sorry for the luck tho!

Couple of questions come to mind here, what were you doing that would keep your insurance company from paying on your claim? Is the vehicle paid for? What coverage did you have on it at the time of the accident? What state are you in? Seems to me depending on what insurance company you have, there are some clauses that make you responsible and they don't have to pay off if you were doing anything illegal, were 'off-roading' or you coverage was liability only. Can't imagine you did not have coverage (comp/collision). As for options, step one is auto shop for estimates (at least 3). Decide if the cost is worth the hassle of restoring it back to a TRUCK. If this is not a priority, then you have some other things to consider. If you go the rag-top route, you will need to rebuild the windshield mounts and reinforcing it for a ragtop could get spendy as your original pillars are pretty much trashed. Not that it could not be done, but as was mentioned you will either need a donor top or at least donor pillars. A repair shop will give you your best options and cost. Tell them what you would like to do and some options you had in mind. Get their opion on what they recommend. If it drives and runs fine, the frame isn't bent, there is always finding a cab from another truck that was rear ended and just replace the entire cab. If this is not a required vehicle, then you could do almost anything including making it into a SAR rock crawler. What do YOU want to do and how much money do you have to do it with? Good luck.

The truck is in Lexington, Ky. Anyone here have any good recommendations for salvage yards where I may be able to find another cab? Any ideas how much a cab would cost? I'm sure there is a wide pricerange...
