the gods are talking to me
OK, so last week I drive through the Toyota lot (like I do about once a month - just to see what they've got). They had a nice new silver access cab tacoma on the lot with the TRD offroad package. Up until now, I've only ever seen the dcabs with the TRD sport package on the lot. I drooled over it for a few minutes, then left.
Thursday, I called the dealership to schedule an oil change and a tire balancing. No big deal, go the appointment set up for tomorrow (Tuesday).
OK... now here's the kicker... over the weekend, my rear hatch decided to act up. It (randomly) won't close right or open at all. Then this morning, I get to work, go to put my windows up, and the tailgate window doesn't go up all the way (only about 2/3 of the way closed). Looks like something's blocking it.
I think the gods are telling me it's time for a new truck. Or maybe I'm just trying to find a way to rationalize it.
Unfortunately, I doubt it's going to happen. We already have 2 car payments, just can't afford another right now. Maybe in a year or so. *sigh*

I know the feeling. Sat. we stopped at out Toy dealer, I needed to pick up some touch up paint for the 4Runner and we also looked at the new Tacos. We looked at a Silver D-cab with the Off Road package. Sarah LOVED it. Go figure.
I will only do one car payment at a time though so it will be 1-2 years before I can get my hands on one.

yes...this means you must buy this Taco, or God will smite you!! I'm serious too...
I rolled by the dealer a couple weeks ago and there was a brand new 4runner, black, loaded, v8....my girlfriend had to slap some sense into me.. I'm serious too...

buy the truck and save yourself from the mental anguish of not having it. In the long run the health cost benefits will far out weigh the couple of bucks you spend on the new truck.

Anyways...
Stopped by the dealer last night to look at the truck. The access cabs don't really have a useable backseat (at least not for carseats), so it's out of the question. The dcab is still a possibility, I just don't like them as well.

We have the access cab tundra, and for like short trips the kids dont mind sitting in the back seat. But anything over 20-30 min the KIDS start complaining. Spring for the DC .. it looks good

I know how you feel. I often cruise through the lot of the local Toyota dealer. Even though I cant afford to buy anything right now, its still fun to stroll through the lot and check out what Toyota is making.
I had to get some brake pads for my F-150 last week and the dealer had a really nice '00 Tundra 4x4 Xtracab for sale. '00 4x4 Xtracab, V8, black, Limited (leather seats) with 80,000 miles on it for $20,000. Its VERY tempting but Im waiting for one of the VVT-i Tundras to be available for under $20,000. My F-150 has 122,000 miles on it right now, so I figure that there should be some '05 Tundras for sale for under $20,000 when my F-150 has 200,000 miles on it.
