easy Q about bug shield

where do the clear rubbery stops get attached on the bug shield? I bought a used one and can't see where they go? Also, there is no double-sided tape needed, just the 4 flimsy plastic push-pins? It seems like it will be flopping around at speed

the bug shield just sits on top of the rubber stops. The bug shield won't (theoretically of course) move if you've properly attached it to the underside of the hood

The rubber stand-offs attach to the hood and the sheild sits on top of them.

I nixed the plastic fasteners in favor of well-nuts and stainless machine screws.

I also cut some pads out of silicone sheet to buffer the contact area between the guard and the underside of the hood.

This setup eliminated the slop and movement I experienced.

I'll try to post pics.

piggyback question: Where can I buy a durable grill/radiator screen for my car and truck? I'm not talking about those bras, what I need is a screen/net.

make sure those rubber deals are in the right place (on the very edges and one in the middle or two spread apart if you have that many). the moron that put the bugshield on mine before i got it did not do this and now there is rust and the bugshield rubbed down to the metal in some spots. not happy with that.

Thanks Jake. Do you have to specify for the bug screen and did you installed it yourself?

I tired puting the stops with the adhesive on the guard and the rubber on the paint but it left little marks on the paint. They dont look that bad and looks like it can be clayed out but I still took them off and so far it hasnt moved like some others had. Try it without the stops first and see if it moves then if you must use the stops.

The dealer sells a "bug shield accessory kit" which includes new bumps, new rivets, alcohol wipe, and a template for the proper placement of the rubber bumps. It ran me about $7.

My Lund bug guard stands away from the hood and doesn't need rubber bump stops and that was the main reason I bought that model. It might sit a little tall for some folks who might prefer a low profile version but the higher it sits then the more crap it deflects.
