Detroit Locker

Hey everyone, alright I am working with TTORA to do a group buy on some Detroit lockers..This is probably going to be the last group buy for some time, however, I wanted to see if you guys had any interest. I have no prices right now, however, those who are interested let me know so I can get some pricing.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your support as always!

Mike

Get a group buy going on the Aussie locker (that they still have yet to release) for the 3rd gen, and we can talk business.

Yeah what happened with that. Bill was supposed to write me back with an update and I have't heard anything yet. Are they still gonna make it for our rigs?

If the price is right I would be up for a front TruTrac. For all you guys wanting Aussie Lockers, just get a Powertrax, it is mechanicly identical, cheap, easy to install and works great. No reason why you would choose to go through the hassle to get an AL when Powertrax can be shipped from Summit to your door in 3 days IMHO.

I asked a Aussie lockers rep that same question a while back and he said that with the introductory price they are most likely going to have, they're not going to be able to provide a group buy rate.

Not able or not willing to, I'm not sure.
Then again, it was just me - if he was barraged with e-mails maybe he'd do it just to shut us up

Well there is one reason...they are almost twice as much money. Not sure if you are talking about the Lock Rite or No Slip, but based on what I read, it looks like the Aussie would be closer to the No Slip - therefore the Powertrax would be twice as much. Bill told us we would be looking at about $200. Cant beat that!

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I have looked at exploded diagrams of the Aussie and put a Lockright in my rear axle about a month ago. They are almost exactly the same. The only major difference is that they Lockright is made of a shiney, bright metal (it has some dumb trade name) and the Aussie is a grey/black color in all the pics I have seen. The mechanisim that makes it more streetable is just 4 springs that push the dog clutches apart except when moderate tourque is applied to the diff. I don't know what the reputation for Aussie is but Powertrax products are the best bang for your buck. When I was at Summit racing last, they had a little display so you could see how easy it is to install a Powertrax in an axle, I stood there for about 40 min and put both in and played around with them. The only differense is that the lockright clicks between 3 and 12 times when letting loose and the no-slip clicks once. I really belive that if you had identical 4Runners, one with a Lockright, one with an Aussie you could never tell them apart. I do not know how wise it is to put automatic lockers on a daily driver with an automatic though, when I turn a corner, I often find myself clutching for a moment to reset the locker and avoid tire skitter. Most times it is not a prob. and if you are light on the gas, you can go around long bends without it locking. I would really recomend the Lockright if you are contemplating an Aussie. To me, the diffrense is comparable to things like, a K&N filter or an Airaid filter, almost nil. Just my $0.02
