Deck plate mod question
#1
I'm new to these boards so HI. Why do you have to pull the EFI fuse do do this mod? I mean if every time you cork and uncork the deckplate don't you run into the same conditions?

You know that's a good question about capping and uncapping the deck plate. When i did mine i pulled the EFI fuse and put it back in after about 15 minutes. I didn't have any problems with a check engine light. But if you cap the deckplate, I would think the ECM would have the potential to throw a light on. Anyone else??

Pffff. No, you do not have to reset the ECU. It adjusts automagically.
I play with WAY more tuning parameters than the deckplate alone will affect and I NEVER reset because there is no need to.

I guess the reason you have to re-plug the efi fuse is because you disconnected the maf sensor. That's why you don't have to re-connect the efi each time you cap and uncap the deckplate. Because when you install the deckplate you have to disconnect the maf, and that's the only time you'd have to.

thanks DR Z. I suspected as much, as for unplugging the maf as long as the engine isn't running it shouldn't come into play. Do you know if there is any info out there on the intake silencer mod for an'03 taco with the 3.4? the piping seems to be quite different.

First of all, you're welcome for the info. Secondly, I do not know of any write-ups out there for the '03 3.4L Taco ISR mod. But, if you wanna take some pics and pst them, maybe we can figure something out.
