Dash Light problem

What would cause my E-Brake light to stay on. It started to flicker on when I would brake, but when I would accelerate it would turn back off...now it just stays on.

JSB,

Its likely that your brake fluid is a little low- I had the same problem a few months back, would come on going uphill. The level changed just enough to trip the sensor. Top it off with some brake fluid, and you'll be good to go.

Ditto to David.

My friends mini van brake light would come on when he went around the corner. Told him top off the brake fluid. He checked it, said it looked full, didn't top it off, took it to the dealer and they charged him $25 to put in a couple ounces of brake fluid.

I laughed my off when he told me what they did!

Cool!!
I'll check it tonight when I get home. I love simple fixes.

Where would I be without Yotatech!

Check your brakes sometime soon as well. Theoretically, the reservoir should never go low unless there are worn components (pads, shoes) somewhere else or a leak in the system. Theoretically.

yeah, what he ^ said.
My sister drove while that light was on in her Corolla - she kept it up until she started hearing grinding sounds. They had to replace the brakes and the rotors :pat:

If you were sitting next to me you'd probably slap me in the back of the head. I actually changed my pads and rotors recently. When putting the new pads on I noticed I was going to over flow, so I absorbed some with a paper towel to avoid a spill. Funny thing is I never topped it off when I was done, and for got about doing it. I'll go ahead and do this and save you guys the time

Funny thing is, I'd probably would have done it, but when I'm working on my truck my wife, and kid are usually asking me if I'm done, or how long is this going to take about every 15 minutes. So I tend to slip up.

LOL...hey if I can pin it on some one else I will
Besides I thought that was a good one.

It's really probably because I might be out, and thought what the hell, I'll do it later...and never did apparently. Now I'm like Duhhh hey my brake light is on, what now. I'm glad I can laugh at myself.

...yeah, better that than looking at the brakes and seeing something wrong.

First time I saw a Check Engine light I felt the tinge of panic and then laughed at myself when I saw that I'd been using Non-sensor safe silicone sealant on my deckplate and ISR mod :pat:

Yep...My RX-7 had O2 sensor issues due to my Mods, that dang light came on all the time. Now when I see one come on , I'm like agh it's probably just the O2 sensor.
