What would you say is the best method to cut a 1-3/4" hole into a stock toyota rear bumper? I am planning to put a 7 pin trailer connector into there.

Would it be possible with a sawz-all? Do they make hole saws to cut through chrome steel?

Why not just mount the connection to the hitch instead of cutting a hole in the bumper?

Use a drill to start your hole then get a jig with a metal cutting blade.

Yes. Hole saw. Make sure you use a small standard drill bit to drill out a small pilot hole first, then use the hole saw to finish.

 

Sorry... I don't know why, but I was thinking you wanted a square hole. If you want a round hole, a hole saw is definitely the way to go.

 

You can clean the hole up with a Dremel using a grinder attachment. Besides a Sawzall, the Dremel is a tool that is very useful. Too bad there is not a battery operated Dremel.

 

Ahhh... but there IS! Check out your nearest Lowe's. I just saw one there a day or two ago....

 

He's right, there are battery powered dremils. I have one, and it works well, but it doesn't spin as fast as the corded and it doesn't have as much torqe. I actually have an older one, so there is a chance they have beefed it up, but I want a corded one now
