Has anyone tried this product? I saw this infomercial this morning found it interesting but i'm always sceptical of this type of stuff.

A small propane torch works just as good. You can get one at walmart and they are refillable.

 

i know someone who'll be opening one in 2 days, so i'll let ya know.......

I have really wanted to try that thing. I know my soldering iron is a PITA!

 

FWIW - there's a review somewhere out at MSNBC.com that claims it works as advertised.

 

They got a similair model, different brand name at the Costco Stores.

One thing I dont like about that Cold Heat is the damn song they play when advertising it.

 

they have actually been around for a long time, just no one really ever said much about it..... they are good, however the tip material they use, i forget what it is, is very vulnerable to breakage, i have dropped my soldering iron several times with no problem... the cold heat uses some typ of i want to say like porcelin tip or something... thats why it comes with a cover...

 

I heard it was a joke. Basically it heats up by shorting out the batteries, so you go through batteries really quickly, and on top of that, it doesn't get hot enough. Just go to radio shack and get a decent soldering iron for 5 bucks more.

 

We opened one up at Home Depot after hours and played around with it, I work there so don't think I'm just break in and playing with their stuff. It worked fairly well, but not really as good as a soldering iron, alot easier but not as effective. I'm still thinking of getting one to help with all the tight spot wiring I don in the Runner. It's not like those wires are going to see alot of tension and stress.

 

It sucks, I mean really sucks.
I will be taking back to Radio Shack ASAP.
I don't know why I still fall for things like this.
Also that Mr. Clean thing sucks almost as bad.
Bucket, sponge, and california blade technique is still the best.
