was using the a/c this weekend and noticed it was dripping water inside on the passenger side. Anybody know what it might be? I have 02 4runner

Normal.

All A/C systems drip water when they're being used, it's just condensation. Sometimes it'll puddle up under the truck if you're stopped for a while with the engine running. Nothing to worry about unless it's inside the cab like Tofer said.

No, this is not normal, at least not in my experiences with a '00 4runner and '97 Taco.

However, when I was doing some work behind my dash, i have noticed some of the cab framing shows small rust spots, i assume from condensation on my air ducts. Nothing serious as of yet, and maybe yours is a similar issue.

 

Not normal if its dripping inside. If its dripping outside than its normal

 

Not normal, check your evaporator tube. Sometimes leaves and junk get caught up in it causing the condensation to back up into the cab. Mine did it over the weekend and had to take a air nozzle and blow the tube clear.

Ignore the "web mechanics" and read my post, check the drain tube! I took a blower nozzle and LIGHTLY blew the tube to clear it. Let it run in the shop while I worked on other customer vehicles and rechecked. Now nothing but a puddle on the OUTSIDE of the vehicle and not inside.

Yes I also missed the inside part. Web mechanics huh, is that not what you are right now? I think there are a lot of gear heads like myself on here just trying to help and get help with there toys.

 

Yeah I should not have posted it. I get tired of people putting out wrong information and actually spewing anger from a customer that ticked me off. He "read on the internet, putting a gallon of diesel fuel in your fuel tank will actually clean the injectors in a gasoline car." Hmmm?... then why did I have to replace the injectors and clean the lines going from the fuel tank to the fuel rail after 2 months of him doing this? Because some web mechanic said it would work. You have to take internet "facts" with a grain of salt.

My apologies, I've misread a few things myself and given wrong info so yes I'm a web mechanic too.

 

No worries. I think most of us (at least on YT) really try to give good advice and share our bad experiences so others don't have to make the same mistakes, but I read through it too fast sometimes. To the OP, Ironmike4x4's advice is good so I would do that.

 

Yes Ironmike4x4s has the answer. I think YT guys are the most informent over any other site. Your diesel story is funny to me cause I went to a gas station a couple of years ago and the kid put in 2 gallons of diesel in my durango and the guy next to me said oh dont worry it is good to do that every once in a while. I told the guy how stupid he was and had to drop my tank to drain it. grrrrr.

 

I'm under the impression after reading a few threads here on YT that this IS fairly normal for 3rd gens?

This has only happened to me once, on a very humid day, with the AC on for 6 hours straight during a road trip.

There was a slight drip on the passenger side floor... and I also had a drop or 2 appear from the bezel of the radio.

Definitely check the drainage hose... but you are not the only one who has experienced this.
