Water dripping

Well, my radio works now. But, now that I think about it there was some water dripping from under the dash on the passenger side. What could be the problem here?

... or your heater core has developed a leak. Do you know if it was hot (w/ engine warm) or cold water?? Does it smell like anti-freeze?? If so, it may be a bad heater core...

I hope that's what it is. Usually when you have a fluid dripping from under the passenger side of your dash, it's coolant. It's dripping because the heater core is leaking. That isn't a very cheap fix. You should probably check your coolant level just in case. If you are running straight water in your radiator, I would have to say the problem is the heater core.

Good Luck

I had the same problem this weekend with mine, but it was on both sides. We were driving with the sun roof open and the AC on and given the hummidity here is was causing the duct work under the dash to sweat and drip. Once I closed the sunroof it went away after about a 1/2 hour.

Yeah, we were in the Florida Keys, and it is extremely hot and humid down there. Plus all the windows were down, the sunroof was open, and the back window was down. I know it wasn't coolant because it didn't smell. The weird thing was that soon after, my radio cut out and wouldn't work. But today it does. You guys think I should worry, or just say "screw it".

Here in Arizona I also occasionaly see condensation dripping from AC on the passenger side. That happens only when I drive with AC and its pretty humid outside. During regular hot days the water doesn't even get to the ground

I just had mine checked out at the dealership yesterday with the same problem. They unclogged the drain pipe and sent me on my way. I have Husky liners and they aren't getting wet, so I knew it was something on the firewall dripping down. Whatever it is, get it fixed quick because it WILL get musty.

I would also check the evaporator housing if the drip happens when the A/C is on. I had a hairline crack in mine from my wifes pointy shoes! I used some caulk on it (clear) and its fine. Just make sure its draining under your rig after running the A/C.:pat:

I have a similar dripping issue except for the water is dripping from right behind the passenger front wheel well from a little black rubber hose at a right angle. Should this be attached to something or is it simply a hose for the condensation from the AC?

A clogged condensor drain tube is pretty common, especially on older vehicles. When this clogs, water from condensation overflows and spills onto the passenger footwell. Mine did this and it made a peculiar sizzling noise too (I have no idea why it did that). There is a black tube that exits near the passenger side front tire, on the firewall. This drains the water outside so make sure it's not clogged. I pulled mine out of the firewall and got a gush of water. After cleaning the tube, I replaced it and it works fine now.

Preston, this should answer your question.

Steve,

Thanks for that reassurance. The way the drain pipe is angled looks as though it should be connected to something. This is what brought up the question for me.
