6IN Deckplate Mod w/Pics

Hey guys-

I was asked last week about my 6IN deckplate. Well here is the link of my 6IN deckplate mod. You will also find the name and number of the manufacturer in the photo description.
Please let me know if there are any questions. Enjoy!

Good job 98_Limited!

I would think it would let a tad more air in than th 4", but I'm thinking I might run a 5" just so I don't have the little bit of overlap. Your installation looks really good though. Did you notice a big difference in power? How about the sound? Is it a lot louder?

I dont really have anything to compare it to. This is all I have known. It is REALLY loud with the ISR mod. Yikes! Some people would hate it, but I just love it.

I wouldnt say I noticed a big difference in power. I estimate it to be about the same as the 4", but maybe 1 or 2 HP more.

I figured this would be good for the guys that dont have this mod yet, you know, expand their horizons a bit. Options are good!

Ditto what <98_Limited> said. I used the 4" deckplate. But there is a noticeable, seat-of-the-pants difference in throttle response, IMO. It also sounds like an ol' 4-barrel V8 w/no air cleaner when you're at WOT!

I just got done installing 6" deckplate, and the only thing you might want to do is trim the top and bottom to make it flush with the air box. I also removed my elbow and the second part of the elbow in the fender. I'm reseting the ecu right now. It is the EFI fuse that resets the computer, right?

To me, the more air the better as long as the fuel can keep up. I still run only 87 octane fuel, so I don't think I'm taking in enough air yet. As far as dirt, I don't think so. I put a screen in the deckplate that will help to keep out the bugs and larger stuff, so I'm not too worried at this point. I also put a screen over the hole that used to go into the elbow.

The amsoil filter catches everything. I did some pretty serious desert off roading, and never had even a hint of dirt on the "clean" side of the filter. Of course, I always put in my deckplate when off-roading.

Yep! I also would say that at slow speeds like off-roading the deckplate being off isn't going to produce a large gain. But, the faster you go the more it's going to help.
