3rd Generation Hood Protector

I just called my local dealer to have my 2002 4Runner hood protector installed, and they want to charge me $99.00 for the part plus $65.00 for installation. Total up to $164.00.

Is it worthy? cheap or expensive? can I get somewhee else cheaper than this? I checked on Weathertech.com they have one about 60 bucks with easy install "do-it-yourself" stuff.

what should I do? any help will be great.

Peace.

I installed mine in 15 minutes, it was easy really. The kit comes with simple instructions.

If you are handy a bit you should be able to do it yourself.

holy hell, WTF???

Hood Protector... you mean that little plastic shield thing that goes on the front of your hood to protect from rocks and bugs and stuff? I got mine from my dealer for about $60. Check with some of the on-line discount dealers... you should be able to find it much cheaper than that. And absolutely DO NOT pay to have it done. ANYONE can put that on... takes about 10 minutes, 20 if you stop for a beer, 30 if you have a 6pack before you start.

I bought my at the dealer (yeah I'm rich)

But I installed it myself.

I t does look good indeed specially on my silver millenium but it changes the wind circulation around the hood and exterior mirrors. I think that there is more wind noise and the hood "shakes" a bit near the wipers.

It took me a while to get used to that.

I got mine from a local truck shop. Don't pay that much from the dealer!
