Yeah, not that I plan on letting that happen to my 4runner, but you never know & I want that cage, lol

I've got a BL from Roger and its solid, just buy one already, wait...buy some front shocks first if you haven't already lol

 

Patience my friend. I want to do the body / drivetrain lift before I buy new shocks. The plan is to fab some new upper shock mounts as high as possible, so I can get the longest shock possible. Once I do the body lift I will have more room for the upper shock mounts....get it? Right now I am stuck on the crossmember, I would just buy the Bud Built but I need to do some more checking first. The BB crossmember for a standard trans w/ 2" drivetrain lift cost $199, but one for an auto cost $299? Thats a pretty signifigant price difference so I want to know if I can use the cheaper one and modify it a little to make it work. I think I will give Bud a call today.

I'm getting impatient myself, and have decided to just order the OME stuff and 4Crawler goodies asap. That way, I can just walk through this, over a couple days, not rushing it,....as it looks as if my buddy with the shop I can use, with the lift......that wont be an option for at least a few weeks, and I really just need to get this done so I can do some trips before another season is over, lol.

Sorry bud, I still don't have the answers about the diff drop. Just been busy with the holidays and the kids. I finally finished unpackaging and assembling all of there new toys so I hope to play with mine some this weekend. I will try to get the diff drop in and post before and after CV angle pics. Then we can decide if it is worth it or not, just check back with me on Monday.

 

I got a couple of little things from my wife for Christmas, and finally got a chance to mess with them.

Much needed steering wheel upgrade. Let me tell you that the original wheel in the 4runner sucked balls! It was thin and flimsy, not to mention sticky. It's a GT Grant 13" steering wheel with mounting kit.




This is the installation kit 3593 for Toyota.



I did not need to use a steering wheel puller to get the old one off. I loosened the center nut, but did not remove it completely to prevent smacking myself in the nose. Then pulled like hell with elbows locked and feet planted firmly on the floor board, rocking it back and forth untill it let go of the splines on the steering shaft.

The instructions sucked! The steering wheels are generic to fit a wide range of vehicles with an additional mounting kit, the mounting kits are generic to mount all of the different styles of Grant wheels. Both the kit and the wheel came with very generic instructions. After scratching my head for awhile and failing to figure it out I finally found an additional "instruction supplement" in the bottom of the box. Yes that is 3 sets of instructions to cross reference! As it would turn out I didn't need most of the extra parts that where included in the kit. They just put them in the box to confuse you. In the end I am very pleased with the steering wheel, It looks and feels good plus the horn still works.

Also a set of camo Cabelas Trail Gear seat covers. I got both front and rear, I don't think the rears are going to work, but I am going to give them a try. These are cheap universal covers, but I am very pleased with the quality of them. They have several straps to hold them onto the seat bottom and the cords down the sides alow you to pull them nice and tight. The seat backs have a bunch of extra pockets for storage.




The front corner is alittle sloppy, but the do have velcro slots on the sides to give access to all the the adjustment knobs.



For the price of these I think they are great, nothing close to custom covers, but will get the job done and look pretty good.
