From: Bryan Tx,
I got the drivers side installed last night to check for clerance problems. I was expecting 1 or 2.

You can see in these pics how close they come to the castle nut on the pitman arm to draglink.

Never touches though. I will probably turn another 1/8" off of the shaft anyways.

Also the head of my bolt does contact the frame here. It just barelly touches so I am going to try & cut an 1/8" or so off of the outboard misalignment spacer & that should cure the problem.

Woo hooo! SEXY, Mr. CackyRunner! lol.... Love your work, man... always something interesting when I come by! hahaha. Can't wait to hear 'how's it work?'.

Thanks for all the, well, moral support and confirmation on my troubleshooting thread, Rob! lol...... I guess I needed it... I start to feel bad, believe it or not, ...or doubting of myself that maybe I DID something.... Then I realize, ...WTH? ....What could I have possibly done? hahaha.

OK, well, anyway, ENJOY THE TOY, Buddy!

PS> So sorry, again, about the carnage. Do you think, with a TG bumper, or something like that, .....nahhhhhh, it was much higher, right? Dang that stinks! Anyway, I was thinking about your sitch and I came up with an idea.... (regarding preventative... sorry, I know nothing about body work, lol.) I'll slip it by you, later, see what you think, k?

From: Bryan Tx,
Thanks Mark, trying to keep the build interesting. LOL. there is no way that I could have gotten off un scathed even with a good rear bumper. I know that mine is a joke. In the not so distant future I will be fabbing up a nice one with lots of protection. I have to make up my mind weather I want to do a body lift or not before I start fabbing bumpers, but all in due time. Looking forward to hearing any ideas you have. Lay em' on me. The budget for my build is getting tighter....um, I mean redirected into a vacation fund to please my wife, But I'll keep working on other things that don't cost as much & stuff that I can make. The build must go on! LOL

hahahaha! I do, I do! How quickly I've forgotten amongst the weeks and weeks of diagnostic-information-overload! hahaha. Anyway, I WISH, on trek'n to TX! I can't even find time to get to the Pismo Jambo most likely... but hey, I've made a good friend through the tear-down/build back up I've been helping that guy with...... and it's ALMOST done,... possibly tomorrow on the Break in! wOOt! lol.

Take care, Rob... I'm going to fill you in on the Hiem and BJ removal and custom fab Arm-thingymadoer! ....soon, hahaha. Seriously, I have to learn more about it, k? I'll DEFINITELY know more in a couple weeks! Sound good? If you can wait, I think you might be interested in doing something similar, but again, I can't explain it all until the 'fab man' lays it out for me... what I DO know is that he builds off-road racing trucks, etc... interesting, eh? lol.

From: Bryan Tx,
Tie rod end to Heim conversion is done! I got all of the clerance issues worked out & painted the adjusters black so they don't rust.

any chance of those putting extra stress on the relay rod or idler arm causing those to bend instead? I know the idlers are somewhat weak to begin with. They look good though.

Potentialy yes, it could put more strees on the idler & pittman arm. I've already been through a couple of idler arms so this time I took mine apart & machined some bronze bushings for it. One of my next projects will be to make an idler arm brace. The relay rod (drag link?) is pretty stout, I don't see it being the weak link.

From: Bryan Tx,
It won'y have any effect on the flex. I just did it for extra beef. They are way stronger than the tie rod ends ever could be, and for what it cost & what I plan on doing with the truck it was worth wild for me.

Ahhh, yes, ... Ok, I hear ya. See, the mod that I'm contemplating doing(more as to why I said contemplating, in a second)... The guy does race trucks, ALL DAY LONG. He's a pretty well know Fab master kinda guy.. Anyway, they build these arms and along with the hiem project....they eliminate your BJ's.. Then switch the rear to special stack springs that DON'T wear out in a couple years..... Then you wind up with WAY more up and down travel in the front cuz of stuff I don't quite understand fully, just yet, hahahaha. I promise I'll fill ya in, and if you want the Arms or whatever they are called that he does... I'll try to hook you up on how to get a hold of him, etc., ok?

Take care, Rob, ...... I'm off to help the guy out some more today(should be firing her up for break in, TODAY! wOOt!... Ok, ok,.... never get ahead of myself... I know, hahah.)

Mark
