Machined the dual case crossmember so that I can change the oil on the single case that I am running. Mocked up the transfer case to the transmission to make sure everything fits before installing tomorrow.

I got the 4.7:1 low range tcase bolted to the transmission and the crossmember. I put it up in the truck and can see where to cut the floor for the shift levers

sweet 2nd gen 4R . I have a 90 . with 4.7 crawl gears . 1 thing I would suggest is to check out the twinstick tcase shifter . before you get it buttoned up . even with a selectable up front its nice to be in 2wd low especially if you run an auto locker ,much easier to drive around steering wise with it in 2wd with hubs locked with no input power the locker just ratchets then pop it in 4wd when you need it . I just have the lunchbox locker in both ends of that one ,and it does great for an ifs front . and 1 more thing to think about for the solid axle is the shackle bushing are a very very high wear item . the OME parts are supposed to be a longer lasting solution . I just got some to try out in my 86 sas 4r .

Unbolted most of the ifs just have to get the torsion bars out and then start torching. The bilsteins showed up today and the rest of the swap kit shows up tomorrow! I'm going to have fun this weekend!

Engine swap, manual trans conversion, and solid axle swap.... Awesome, enjoying the build.

Thanks! I'm having fun with it. I have been collecting parts for 2 years to do this. I actually bought 63 Chevy swap kit from ruff stuff as well so that's coming somewhere down the line as well.

Cool, good luck with the swap. I would be concerned about keeping it cool, there isn't a lot of room to put a bigger radiator in it. My buddy put an LS 9 in an 87 and ended up pulling it out because he couldn't keep it cool and it kept popping wheelies and he couldn't get it pass the smog ref but it was awesome for a short time

Well I ended up with a piece of steel in my eye from grinding. Doctor got it out and I'm back to building. Axle housing is in place and diff is wired and working and I modified the casting to fit the leaf springs.

Got the elocker diff mods done today on the Bridgeport mill, had to remove quite a bit of material from the casting to get the diff to clear the ubolt holding the leaf spring. I also counterbored the one bolt that is near the leaf spring and put a button head cap screw in place of the hex. I then rebuilt the hubs with and spindles and installed the RCV axles

I had a piece of steel in my eye about 10 years ago, not fun. Glad you are ok. I enjoyed the video, you really took on some major work all at once!

I have basically been saving up these parts for the past 3 years. I wasn't planning on doing an engine but it became the perfect time to do the rest of it. Having the engine out for the sas has been invaluable.

Finished the axle hub to hub and got the high steer arms installed. I need to put the clutch hydraulics in and new heater hoses in and I am ready to put the engine back

Got the steering stabilizer in. Hard line for the clutch is in along with the master cylinder. Wiring for the locker is through the firewall. Engine going back in
