well today, i got the runner a new pair of shoes. id say that i got a pretty good deal. i traded my 31 inch all terrains on black steel wheels for a set of old style 35 inch goodyear mtrs with 10 inch wide aluminum rims and 300 dollars. he wanted 800 on craigslist so i was good with 500 for the all terrains lol the guy i got them from was trying to put his 86 single cab factory turbo pickup back to stock and get better gas mileage. heres some pics
i also got to working on my gauge pillar. i got it for 5 dollars from a swap meet. its for a late 90s dodge. itll do until i get all the gauges for my dash idea
in the morning i will get a pic of the gauge pillar finished and a pic of the runner washed and wheels cleaned up

Well its been awhile since I last checked in. I've been keeping pretty busy on it. My muffler was rusting away so I was getting a nice leak that was pretty annoying so a couple days ago it "fell" off lol
I spent about 5 hours polishing and getting the wheels back to looking good againand then washed then whole thing. Here yesterday I finally got my body lift on. All in all it was a 35-40 dollar body lift which I'm happy with lol
Here's a during the body lift
Today I took my upper and lower bumpstops off and cut them in half for my travel. I'm thinking about cutting the lower ones more for more up travel. I haven't decided yet though. I did some flex testing on my front porch (don't worry, they are concrete steps and patio lol)
On the last pic you can see I saved money on bumper spacers and I just moved the bumper up and have the bottom hole of the mount in the upper mount on the crossmember. I had to cut the sides of the bumper off so I could get the spacer the mount to the back of the bumper because it was up against the grill. Now I just need to figure something out for a valence lol

Thanks!! I appreciate that! I only did a two inch body lift on it and I'm pretty happy with it. I think it made the stance a whole lot better. I have just a little bit of rubbing. I already beat in the fire wall to clear so now I just need to trim the back of my fenders some more then I will have no rubbing.

i was driving home the other night, i had just gotten up to highway speed and was adjust my radio, i look up and there are 6 deer crossing the road. there wasnt much that i could do so i hit the brakes and braced myself for the impact. i ended up hitting three of them. one dead on in the front the got ran over and the other two bounced off the side of the tires. heres all the damage
broke my darn jb welded light! and pushed the passenger side of the bumper in a little. it definetly could have been a lot worse!

dang man, glad it wasn't worse! i'm freaked out about deer whenever i'm driving in the woods at night, thats actually my primary motivation for building a front bumper

sucks about the deer, thats why i put a 1/2 steel bumper on the front of mine, really wish i could find a stock 4runner for sure in decent shape! if you dont mind me asking what was your overall price for it?

Dang, that really sucks about the deer, I'm glad the damage wasn't any worse! I'm paranoid about hitting one at are new house, there are so many more deer in the area that we moved to than our last house! Like liveoffroad said thats one of my motivations for wanting a different front bumper, my smittybuilt might help protect the front, but I definately want something stronger, and with a stinger/deer gaurd on the front, lol.

thanks everyone! im very glad that the damage wasnt a whole lot worse. just the light which i am taking as a sign that i need to head over to ebay and order myself some led lightbars! haha but i got some front bumper ideas going around. just something to get rid of the flimsy front and hold up to some sort of impact.
it wasnt the cleanest one but it seemed to be the cleanest and straightest that i seem to see on craigslist. i cant decide if i got a good deal or not, it was decent i guess but i paid 3000 for it. the pic included is what it looked like the day i brought it home.

so i decided it was time to put a hitch in. the i had was given to me, but it was off a 87 toyota pickup so the mounts wouldnt work on my 4runner. i guess its time to do some customizing
i cut the heads of the bolts off for the mounts and took it off. then i had to some grinding so the hitch would fit in the frame rails. it was about an eighth of an inch too wide so i had to something about that....
tried prying on one side but that wasnt enough...
so i had to get my roommates 4runner to pull the other way..
all that and a bfh, it slid right in. nice and tight so that i didnt lose a whole lot of ground clearance
