The no/low power could be a timing thing...Check your codes as well.

Remember to set the timing warm with the diag jumped. You'll want it just at 5 or a little over. I think mine bounces a bit from 5-7 on a warm idle.

or, check and make sure your plugs are gapped at .031, also check your lug wires and distributor. These all could contribute to your low power. and also like Lumpy said, it could be a timing thing

Hmmmmm maybe a vac leak??? Or if you have the vac lines not run proper it will do weird things...Don't ask how I know.

The smog shop just isnt going to give you a break. Speaking of brakes, sorry to hear about your tail light.

As far as your weak power, I was going to say check your timing, but since that has been brought up. How about you fuel filter? I have had it to gradually cut my speed down and loss of power.

Hoping for the best on power and smog.

Hey Twisted, been a bit since I checked out your thread, the progress on the new soft top looks good. I see a couple guys are posting ideas to troubleshoot the scav's loss of power. Might want to check to see if the cat is plugged, as well. Best of luck.

I am just checking in on you, I hadnt thought of the cat. Dont know hw to really check it, especially if you have it welded on. When I suspect mine, they jsut seem to disappear, but I know thats not an option for you.

Those lenses are getting hard to find. Glad to hear you got Scav to pass smog.

I think that top will get done eventually. You will be doing something and all of a sudden get a brainstorm. Sometimes just stepping back and not worrying about it, is when things happen.

I was out in my truck yesterday, and a guy came up to and said his dad had one just like mine several years ago and he would like to have one himself. We got to talking and he mentioned his dad put a roll bar behind the front seats and then put a top on between the 2 roll bars.

I thought of your situation when he told me that. Might lead to some other ideas for you. I will look at them sliders again. Something I never would of thought of.

Hey twisted wanted to let ya know I looked for that tail light lens I know I got a couple just didn't come across them. How ever shopping for my fenders I found a lot of companies that carry them cheap, I'm sure there not genuine Toyota but if you just want to get it legal it might be worth it. Or I can look some more when I get home.
