Nearest junkyard that lets me pull my own parts is an hours drive and at the prices the local small place charges to pull parts i'm better off just getting a new part and having the warranty as the price difference is negligible. Plus i seriously doubt whether this backwoods redneck town junkyard would have a jag...

hahahaa fair enough, you can always upgrade later when you have the time/money. if your going to be running lights/winch etc its a needed upgrade, the stock alt wont hold up long to large power draws

Yeah, but i'll worry about that when i get there.
Next on the list is an aux fuse box and then my tunes.

Looking at getting a bluesea box and then sourcing the other stuff locally when i'm ready. Need to get a check or two after that alt.

However, in planning for that, and i wish i'd done this before i did my big three......
I am thinking about doing the cold air intake switch, air box and battery switch. Can anyone weigh in who has done this and comment on the change in mpg?
Actually, i just googled it. I don't think i'm going to go that route at all, all the gains seem to be in high range at the expense of mid and low range. Me thinks that with 35s and 5.29s i need all the low and mid range torque to get moving.
However the one thing i do want to fit under the hood is an aux battery. This however i have no ideas as to where to place, i just need to make sure i don't put the fuse box somewhere i might want to put a battery and have to run the wires again.
Oh and the exhaust vid is uploading phil.

So when i filmed the exhaust vid i noticed, now that i can actually hear the engine, a noise that i'm not sure if i should be worried about.
And then here is the exhaust vid, just at idle as i did not have a helper. And then a little peek inside.

Dogonne it!!!
Went to weld up my shock mounts tonight and besides the insignificant detail that we were out of gas for the welder i discovered that the one thing i forgot to do when i got the tailpipes is check shock fitment
Drivers side, will fit, with a little clearance....
Passenger side? It might fit after some alone time with a torch and the bfh(big fat hammer).
Oh and i figured out why the stock mounts are on the leaf holder things, park brake line is in a rather unhelpful place, might have to relocate it too.

exhaust sounds good, the sound you hear in your motor could be injectors clicking or rockers, My truck hums and clicks.... if it breaks it gets fixed but so far nothing bad is happening.

Thanks, its taking me a while to get used to the buzz at acceleration vs the roar. But it is a lot quieter so i'm happy overall.
Yeah, i won't mess with it till something brakes, i just am not familiar enough with engines and such to tell if something was already wrong. This is only my second truck, and the first one was an 85 nissan that you could see the road past your feet, hear every detonation in the block, and hear every piece of gravel in the road as it tried to shake the cab off(2 broken mounts...), but it did everything i asked it too working on the farm and around the house. Given those circumstances i pretty much ignored the sounds until it wouldn't start then fixed the issue.

Tough little motors and will treat you well. your old nissan reminds me of my 86 mazda 323 when i was a kid, flintstone brakes haha i remember stepping on the brake pedal and my foot went through the firewall, the plug wires would fall off all the time too, loved that little piece of ˟˟˟˟˟

I know it will, but i don't want to abuse it. I've only had this truck a few months and i love it already.
Haha yes, beaters are soo much fun, cause you don't have to worry about beating them up. I remember going to a friends horse farm to pickup a load of manure for the garden, i went and loaded the bed high, when i got home i pulled in the driveway and stopped to get the mail... i discovered a nice straight(if intermittent) compacted trail of manure behind me. A piece of my wheel well had given up the ghost and had been dropping chunks in front of my rear tire. Wish i knew how long a trail i left.

LOL. Bet you never did that again :p

On topic for a sec. I think my battery is screwed. It took a few tries to start this morning, but started fine when i stopped and started after driving for a while. Still trying to figure out what to do on my exhaust, i hate to have to cut it having just put it on.

Okay exhaust issue picks and some others:

This picture doesn't really show it very well but that angled piece you see in the previous pic is up against the piece of 1x1 standing in for my shock, the pipe will need to be bent cut whatever just to fit it as is, but if i flex/tuck.... bye bye tailpipe.

While i was under there i noticed my thingy joint skid plate had fallen off.

Thats the joint on an ext cab truck where the rear drive shaft angles down to the pinion. Can't remember the name for the life of me right now.

Oh and my gas tank leak seems to be persistent =p Though i'm not sure where its coming from.

In other news i'm planning for my dual battery aux fuse box setup, though nothing will happen till i get those shocks in. I kinda had my hand forced on the battery thing as this one is not bad persay, but not good enough that i trust it not to let me down, so i'm thinking retire it and run it as the aux as it does have the juice to crank in emergency and will be more than adequate for my stereo and such for the time being. Just got to figure out where to put it.

Oh and i need some recommendations on shocks. I wont have exact measurements till the mounts are in but i have a 4" block in the front and a 3.5" in the back(funny thing is i'm still raked like crazy). My friend who is doing the welding insists i can't get anything but Bilsteins but i'm open to all opinions. I want good bang for my buck but not crazy expensive top of the line. I definitely need rear shocks and i may need front ones, can't decide not sure how much of the bounce is behind and how much is in front of me.

center support bearing. there's a few different names for it they all mean the same thing.

I see what you mean about the tail pipe now, your going to need to cut and reweld i think. or remove all together, it sucks to say that but it might have to be done. You should address the fuel leak issue asap, hot exhaust and fuel leak... nothing good will come from that

Yeah..... I am probably gonna put the mounts on and buy the shocks then take it back to the muffler shop and ask what he recommends. Definetly keeping the dual pipes, would hafta ditch the flow master to go back to a single and i can't afford that.

Found a local guy with some gas tanks. 2 88s and an 87, any one of those should fit, right? $35.
