Shoulda known it was too good to be true. He arranged to come out and test drive then decided to keep his truck.
Then, get this, he asked to buy my tuck out right. So i said make me an offer. Now just after trying to trade a truck he valued at 9 grand for mine he offers me 1500.
Back to looking i guess. I hate to do it but i think trading it will be my best bet, classes have started up and work will be picking up in a week or two and i wont have time to do much tinkering let alone major work.

Just got offered 4 grand cash in the morning... he didn't ask anything except how long the gears had been in the truck.
400 profit over purchase price.
Now i need to find one to buy in a hurry as i don't have another vehicle.

Wahoo!!! just got him up to 4200!!!

Good luck in your search. I'm sure it is bitter sweet to sell your truck

It is... so much going on in my life right now that it could have been the emotional last straw, but making a profit sweetened the deal sufficiently.
Going to look at this one in the morning.

Finally found a guy who knows what he is talking about. Gonna go take a peek at this one tonight.
http://florencesc.craigslist.org/cto/3958268120.html

Its got saggy butt syndrome, and 35"s with no lift and stock gears, but it has a new 22re, and completely rebuilt front end, new wiring harness, and apparently(need to call the shop and find out) transferable lifetime warranty on all the parts and labor.
Gonna take a look at it before i try to talk price, for once its within a few minutes driving distance.
But do y'all think i would be justified in trying to knock off some $$s for bad springs, incorrect gear/lift/tire setup.
That or take a set of rollers with me and tell him to keep the big tires and rims and sell them.
I am sick of shopping, i want to wheel.

Been talking to the fella. Gonna look at it tonight, if i like it he is gonna let me have it for 4900. I figure i can trade the tires and wheels, and temporarily fix the saggy butt with loosening the torsion bars, which apparently have been cranked to the moon to accommodate those tires.
Any thoughts?

Another dud. Leaking main seal, leaking head gasket, leaking transmission. he had a new wiring harness alright, but the wrong ecu, the plugs that didn't fit were tucked behind it.
Oh and we had drastically different ideas of 'clean' interior; i could count the springs in both seats, and only duct tape stopped the dash from falling off.
Sooo frustrated with this whole car shopping deal.

Bah... i can't find anything. Is it too much to ask for? A 22re 5spd ext cab? That all i want... and well that it runs.
What are toyota autos like? I would rather break and go auto than break and go v6 as i need that fuel economy.

Might be onto something. Talking with ravencraft about buying his truck.
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f108...50-obo-269380/
I know its not 22re or 5spd. But its too good a deal to pass up. Put the money i don't spend on the truck into gas.

EDIT: unfortunately this got shot down, cant get a ride up there. Some one go buy his truck, its awesome and cheap.

Yea its funny how (clean) or (no rust) is one thing to one person to another.Good luck in your search. The ex cab trucks are hard to find with the 22re most have 3.0s

Yeah... its driving me crazy, i'm about ready to take a v6. Really don't want to, would be happier about it if i could easily swap a 22re in.
I found an ex cab 22r with a blown head gasket but at 3k i wasn't going to risk something else being wrong. Though... if could find a decent 22re for about 1k... i could do a swap and still be in my budget...
Anyone know how difficult that would be? To swap a 22re into a 22r truck.

I almost say screw the extended cab and try for this. But i would regret that worse than a v6.
