Ed, you can rob a lot of 5.0/302 fuel injection from quite a few vehicles . Crown Vic, grand marquis, mark VIII, thunderbird, etc... When I had a fox body, I would hound the yards for parts from various vehicles for my build.

You could snag the computer, engine harness, upper and lower plenum, and fuel rails with injectors for fairly cheap.

Then to really spice it up, go rob a T-3 turbo off of a 2.2 Chrysler Lebaron or minivan and fab it onto the 5.0!! Makes some nice power on the cheap.

Thanks for the info, I was unaware that so many different models had that engine. That should make finding efi/computer/wiring harness a whole lot easier/cheaper!

A Turbo would be fun!

I've put roughly 11,000 miles on the 4runner since doing the V8 swap, not to bad for daily driving it for nearly 2 years! Its been pretty reliable, I've only replaced the stock Toyota alternator (want to upgrade to a GM one eventually) and had the Ford starter rebuilt.

That's great ED. Always good to hear the 5.0 swap is a reliable option.

Thanks Mark! I'm happy with the V8 swap in the runner so far. I have some Glowshift water temp, oil pressure, and volt gauges that Ive bought, I just need to get them installed, I hate not being able to keep tabs on whats going on. Also have a new aluminum CFR Performance radiator, fan shroud and 14" electric fan, just need to get a rad cap and mounting bracket for it to get it installed.

I need to finish up one link for the 3link, Fab up some mounts to the frame and the trailer tub so I can bolt it down, finish fabbing up my trailer hitch, then I can mount up my Firestone airbags and run the airlines. I also need to finish welding up some seams on the trailer bed sides, hopefully I'll get a bunch of that done tomorrow!

Thanks Chris! Sliders and front & rear bumpers are definately on my wish list, hopefully by next year I'll have them.

I haven't done any real wheelin yet, I need to get my new aluminum radiator and electric fan installed so it won't overheat on the trails. Just need to order a radiator cap ($20) and a mounting bracket ($50) and then I can get it put in.

Right now I have stock single v belt pulleys. I was looking into getting some under drive serpintine pulleys. But for now I'm going to swap to a double v belt pulley setup so I can finally get my power steering hooked up. I need to modify/build some brackets to adapt the stock Toyota steering pump to mount on the 302. Been driving it for 2 years with high steer and no power steering, surprised I haven't worn out my steering box yet, lol!

I worked on my trailer project today, so I had to put the top back on the 4 runner since I was storing it on top of my trailer. Probably a good thing, looks like a thunderstorm might be heading our way, but its hard to tell with all the haze and smoke from all the nearby wildfires, I think half of the state is burning up! I wish I'd thought of taking one pictures, from the looks of it youd think we had a fire in our immediate area!

That is a great looking truck you got and the small block Fords are so nice to work on and with some effort are a great dependable little motor. Even having a pickup, trailers are so handy to have. Wish it would quit raining here as I would like to pull the tops off of mine.

Nice looking trailer you are building. I would love to make one like that. Capable enough to take with you on the trail yet still able to use it around town/and the house when needed.
