Hey guys just got back from 1 of 2 traffic school days that I gotta take for that stupid ticket I got a few months ago. Just wanted to let you guys out here in California know that GPS's are now illegal(since january). Well as far as driving with it active goes. Apparently it is a distraction to the driver because you're listening to the directions and taking your eyes off the road to look at the screen. I think this is one heck of a stupid law but I just thought you guys should know cuz I use my gps all the time so much that i wven went as far as buying a windshield mount for my phone. And I never knew about it. So there ya go; you've been warned. Lol

Welcome to the People's Republic of China....uhhhh, I mean California.
You actually went to a traffic school? Everyone does the online thing now, it's super easy and doesn't waste any more of your time than needed to do the test. I've done it online twice over the past 15 years!!
From the readings I did after the law was passed it was my understanding you can use a GPS while driving but you can't touch it while driving. Gotta set the directions before you leave and only listen to the directions. And don't get caught letting your eyeballs wander to look at the screen though! or else General Xi JinPing Brown's Imperial Police will teach you a lesson!

I like this one, especially the fact that the hinge for spare tire is on driver side. On our narrower first gen, that hinge can probably handle both spare and Jerry cans.
An extra safety factor which may be easy to overlook is:
When it swings out, it will be on driver side so you can more readily access trunk from road side without having to walk around the spare tire carrier. It's safer to minimize time being directly behind the truck, especially on slippery/muddy/snowy road or trail facing down hill.

Lol yea he must be the cheap god cuz I just realized these were China bearings.... darn. Its ok I guess I just don't like the sound of the bearings. But I can't complain I got what I paid for.

Hey I sold my Black 15x7 aluminum rims and 31" Lemans tires this past Saturday. I'm happy for that. That just meant I was able to make a bigger credit card payment to pay off those truck parts sooner. Yay. $200 not bad. He got a really good deal I think. It was actually a user here on YotaTech that goes by the name Yotalicious. Thank you again man. And nice to meet ya.

Yea. Well on the bright side If these bearings ever mess up on me (or when then do) I can always remove the whole tire swing away part off with no problem. Then replace those bearings. I guess I'll just use these till they break then replace them after. I like the fact that you can grease the spindle to keep it lubricated. So hopefully that will help the longevity of the bearings.
I like it too. I might need to look into a 2nd spindle to make one similar to that one. Gonna check ebay cuz all I need is an extra spindle and latch. I might even be able to use the same latch that I have now. But having 2 latches sounds more safe.
Thanks man. I'm actually gonna change the design a bit. I need to lower the sides that are under tail lights they sit too high. Rather then making it about 4" high on that part I'm gonna make it only about 1&1/2" Just enough to give it that look. I'll be working on it some more today.
------------------------------------------------------------
And I am still not sure if im gonna mess with the hitch. I have full confidence in my dad's 220 lincon welding machine and my dads welds. Even more if we reinforced it after shortening the length of the tow hitch. but i dont know if i will be able to get to the pin and bolt if i incorperate the tow hitch into my bumper. So i might just end up leaving the hitch where it is and just build the bumper above or around it.
