A little progress on the bumper. still need to add the light shrouds and hammock mount, then finish grinding some of the visible welds. I need to weigh it, but if i had to guess i'd say it's around 50lbs. without the removable winch mount.
I would have gotten more finished but the wifey and I did some white water tubing with some friends Saturday. I forget how spectacular some of the areas are around Harm City.

Dang! Nice and beefy - that thing could take a 50 cal bullet! How much do you suppose it will weigh in at?
Nice touch on the Crossland Coat of Arms from the Maryland flag too! If you ever cut out more, I'd buy one that's about 8" tall off of you to incorporate into something I build.

Thanks, I'm going to weigh it when I get the winch plate fully finished, didn't realize I didn't take any pics of the winch plate attachment.
I'll be building a belly skid armor soon, and then a tire carrier redux, so I'll get more Calvert crosses made for those projects. Since I'm not really a business, I've been using it on my fabrication projects as a pseudo branding logo. I've had quite a few requests for the cross gussets. I'll let you know when I am getting some made.

Snip.... going through some old build thread stuff since I'm getting ready for the OBX trip next month.
I planned to do the above over a 1.5yrs ago....and I thought I was getting things done...ha!
Wow, I have been doing nothing!!
ToDo before Spring:
-Rear eLocker Install(may just build a new Full Float axle since housings are so cheap)
-Weld Up Jerry Can for rear(got the steel cut)
-Front Winch Bumper(need to finish the drawings, get steel cut & pick up my new to me m10000)
-Rear Caliper swap with Park-Brake (found some Supra Calipers)
-Finalize Rock Slider Design and Install(already have the steal)

Haven't weighed it yet, but I'll have it wrapped up soon.
When I decided to SAS the truck because I got a killer deal on the 4Wheel Underground kit, the above list was delayed, but here is an update:
-Rear eLocker Install(may just build a new Full Float axle since housings are so cheap)...DONE.
-Weld Up Jerry Can for rear(got the steel cut)...STARTED
-Front Winch Bumper(need to finish the drawings, get steel cut & pick up my new to me m10000).....IN PROGRESS
-Rear Caliper swap with Park-Brake (found some Supra Calipers).....DONE
-Finalize Rock Slider Design and Install(already have the steal).....DONE
I enjoy making lists and scratching items off, even if small, makes me feel productive.

Frenched in the light holes....
some other miscellaneous pics. One toward the bottom shows how the winch mount is removable with twin hitch pins(one is a bolt till I get the locking pin)

The reason for the removable winch plate is two fold....
1. move it to the rear in the event a recovery from the back of the vehicle is necessary.
2. I drive this truck almost daily, and the elements would beat up the winch and synthetic rope when the winch isn't needed.

thanks, I did have to forego the hammock mount for now, i can add it later with a plasma and pipe. Also need to get some offroad lights to fill the openings. I am going to also add a stinger to the front to tie the two wings together and make it easier to judge the front end in tight spots. Not a big stinger, just enough to see at the edge of the hood.
Looking back on the design, there are a few corrections I would make:
1. lateral brace the back of the winch area, connecting the wings
2. add the light shrouds before assembly
3. lateral gussets for outboard wings(they flex slightly)
4. 'I' beam at rear of winch mount plate for added rigidity.
5. Make the bottom support more 'skull' like' (not a fan of the whole skull thing, but it does resemble a skull..)
At one point I managed to knock the entire bumper off the table I had it balance on, not my smartest move. At the time I was working on the removable winch mount hammering and the bumper managed to vibrate enough to slide off the steel I had under it and fall about 3' to the ground(pavers). I saw red! landed on the corner of the winch mount opening near the passenger light....no damage. Bumper is as straight as it was when I tacked it all in place.
I will be reinforcing the frame cross-member and adding a gusseted middle bolt location to accommodate the winch stress area being the center of the bumper rather then spread over the four mounting points a winch typically uses.
