the roughed up paint job goes with the age of the runner. i know my paint isnt perfect and want repaint it but it wouldnt be original anymore. plus like you i too go with alot of brushes.

Yeah the paint is gonna stay how it is. Gonna be doing some stuff to the rig this weekend. probably ordering my lift, possibly ordering new blinkers, and possibly getting my rear window working...

 

You will be happy with those rancho 9000s. I had the old 9000s and now have the new 9 way adjustable 9000s on my lifted f150 and they ride great. When towing or having heavy loads in the bed it makes a nice difference adjusting the knob to soften or firm ride. I would have bought them for my yota build ,but couldnt justify the cost for my trail beater. I sadly went procomp es9000s , about half the cost.

 

Im actually backing out of the RS9000s since they aren't made for my truck. They're eyelet to eyelet. my suspension is eyelet to stud. I dont want to run the conversions. I think they're extremely sketchy.

So Im thinking of going a different route.

Just figured i'd post this information because an OME lift with SDORI front BJ spacers is close to 650 + shipping. With the Brake line & panhard, you're looking at close to $800 dollars. ( my total was $800.16, depending on your shipping costs )

I should have a pretty nice lift once this is all installed.

After all of this, a 1" or 2" body lift will be installed. Im shooting for 35s, so im gonna test fit a 35" tire once the suspension lift is on and see what needs to be trimmed, or how much i need to raise up.

 

what kinda of shocks you get. 35s will be nice with a low lift

 

I went with Skyjackers. I went with what I know works on the LC coils, and just matched them to the front. They're cheap, were on sale, and have a rebate. cant go wrong there.

Got my rear brake line on friday from trail gear and my BJ spacers yesterday ( thanks, Arlindsay1992 )

Now im just waiting for my shocks, which should be here by either today or wednesday. ( they sent it in two different shipping orders because the shocks are different P#'s )

Mak I don't understand why you want to put on a body lift. I could run 35's with some trimming. In fact, I borrowed my buddy's 35's and it was almost ok with no trimming...

 

I haven't completely decided on a body lift yet. Im doing the suspension lift first, and then im gonna try on my buddies 315/70R16s and see if i can fit them with minor trimming. My pinch weld is already gone and cleaned up. I should be ok in the rear with 35s but the front is always the big issue. So after the lift, we'll see where it sits. Im going to be leaving my Torsion bars stock. I love the way it rides now with all the weight up front, its extremely soft. So with the 1.5" spacer, i should see a nice amount of lift. I can probably adjust them a .5 or 1" higher as well and still get a nice flex / ride quality out of them. We'll see whats up though. I really am pretty juiced about going 35s on the 4Runner.

 

i'm guessing you'll be changing your mind again in the future - so just make extra room now, tub the firewall, and forget about the BL -- you already complain about MPGs, so why make it worse by unnecessarily going taller and giving more wind resistance? and you'd have to lift all your armor to match....

btw, where's your stuff for SAS going to?

 

Brian - I already sold the axle and knuckle studs. I never bought anything else, and I made money in the deal anyway, so I cant complain.

I actually solved my MPG woes. the trick? Manual hubs. Because I had a front locker up front and ADD flanges, it was spinning my entire front drivetrain. So it killed power, and put wear on the front end. I'm now getting 15-16 city, 17-18 highway. with about 16-17 mixed. I drove to Stockwell45's house and back. and got 17 mpg And that was with a heavy throttle and the windows down! Not to mention, i burned up a lot of gas winching his tree out of the ground. So i'm really pleased with myself. Im thinking with a light throttle and a long freeway drive, I can pull 20 mpg out of the hat!

Yeah I'm thinking of passing on the whole body lift. I like the fact my truck is bolted directly to the frame. I REALLY want 35s, because i think its not very common and I love the look of no/low lift with big tires. ( hence my 33x10.50s and no lift )

I'll see if I can pull it off. Eric ( 93yotaSR5 ) has a set of 35s that he would lend to me to see if I can clear. so either way, its not gonna hurt much. I'd simply just buy a TC idler arm to match the 35s, and i've been looking into converting my steering to heim joints to help out with the 35s. But like i said. We'll see how it flexes with the 35s. if it have issues, 33x12.50s it is.

 

well you've seen how much I had to cut out and pound just to fit my 33x12.5s on as little lift as possible - that's why I suggested you just tub the firewall if you want 35s. I would have just tubbed mine instead of cutting and pounding, but I didn't want to have to pay someone to do something I feel needs to be done by the owner - plus it's not exactly an easy thing to do since you've gotta move everything out of the way (carpet, ECU, etc). When I get a welder, it's still on my list of things to do.

if you need to try fitting one of my 33s let me know - the Toyos are some of the widest 33x12.5s because of the sidewall lugs. we should all bombard keith with a surprise "yota workday" at his place and use his welder

 

Im pretty sure Toyo's run wide. dont you have a 15x10 rim too?

 

I would suggest fiberglass fenders, but I don't know how it would match with the armor or the rest of the 4Runner for that matter. Then, if you go 3.4 swap, you could get a matching fiberglass hood w/ scoop.

I'm just saying cause I got a lot of room with my 33s in the front, plus a body lift would be a lot of work.

Either way, just a suggestion after you see how it sits with the just the suspension lift.

 

Well I've read about a few guys fitting 35s on their BJ spacers, but they had to really massage the pinch weld and inner fender. like I said before, I plan on test fitting my buddies 315/70R16. and seeing how much more I can work with my pinch weld. Im sure I can run 35s without wheeling it but my truck hits the trails monthly
