Well.......... Hmmm, that's odd, for sure. WTH? Did your PO replace it with aftermarket?

haha nah. I bought the truck 100% stock. had the original radiator in it. I replaced it with an aluminum one ( but then it cracked ) and then I replaced it with a davez offroad radiator and the shroud never fit.

A new fan clutch is 230 dollars from Toyota ( no thanks )....

I know this sounds ghetto...but if the plastic is too brittle to cut a notch into, what if you just torch enough plastic out for the hose to clear?

That torch thing might just work in some cases.... Could even 'SHAPE' it, yeah?

Davez, eh? Hmmm... I see.

What about LCE( I know, I know.... first born's life as lean, hahaha)..., not sure what they ask.... What about Napa? They carry Altrom(Aisin with the name ground off and their own slapped on? haha).

just cut the plastic and reinforce it. perhaps epoxy a piece of something onto it to give it rigidity again. or better yet...call up dave'z and ask him what they do about shrouds...

they've never had an issue with fan shrouds not fitting on their radiators. they're factory replacements. I'll figure it out myself, i guess.

Lol I have my original radiator in the garage still. it looks exactly the same except for the fact that its a little more thick. The fan shroud holes are not in the same location, either.

thats how my replacement was like. the top neck was angled a little different and the mounting spots for the shroud was wrong. since rubber hoses has a little flex, i got the top hose installed. for the shroud, i just placed it in where it should be and used zip ties to install it to the mounting spots. it works great and you should just do that

Are the mounting tabs WAY off, Michael? .... If so, maybe you could quickly just grind em off and have em welded back on/while having the shroud right there to be sure you'll have no 'fan slapping' issues?

My nephew is 9, and he LOVES 'car work' stuff... He's already dying to get his own rig, haha.... He said, "maybe it's in upside down?" hahahahahaha..... Didn't give him a hard time at all... Said, "Good thinking, lil man.... But here's the deal, the cap......"........ To which he scratched his head and said, "OH, ok.... well maybe the guy who made it was drunk or having a bad day" ................

............. .... HAHAHAHA! KIDS! Just ...classic, man!

mike, i REALLY just want to back hand you right now...

just so EVERYONE knows, mike asked me months ago about his overheating problem and i told him right off the bat that he needs to do whatever it takes to get his fan shroud back on, but he didnt want to believe me that it is NEEDED... SMH... next time just listen to me, dummy!

with that said, cut the crap, get rid of that stock fan and go e-fan... its really not worth the effort or time involved to cut up a stock piece to "make it fit" especially when that motor wont necessarily stay in that engine bay forever... might as well make it easier in the future for your swap plans...

I just think its hilarious how bad the heat dispersion is on the 3.0 v6. its so bad it needs a fan shroud to help with air flow? I hate to say it, but my 45 year old car has a better heat/flow design than my 20 year old ridiculous.

I'll cut the shroud and fit it on.

It's not how it's ridiculous... You gotta think, these vehicles were created to be "compact" compared to their American counterparts... Your mustang has a V8 radiator that has a lot of surface area, lots of rows, and was DESIGNED to be used without a shroud... Toyota designed their vehicles to use a shroud because it let them get away with smaller radiators which in turn allowed them to make a smaller vehicle...

All the complaining in the world isn't going to change the fact that your runner NEEDS a rad shroud...

That being said, I'm feeling too cooped up at home... If you need a hand, lemme know and I'll come out if I'm not working...

<3 my mustang. simple, yet effective. things just "work" on it.

also, mustangs came factory with a shroud. more or less it was used as a deterent to not get your fingers chopped off, but even with it removed, it just "works"

Im rebuilding my fan clutch yet again, and also buying a new one. that way i have a spare. Then ill "fit" the fan shroud onto it.

perhaps. the lift is just sitting in the garage. I need to go buy a new air cutter blade first of all... but we'll see. I haven't driven the truck in two weeks. so the mustang has been getting all the attention. I put battery cables and a new antenna on it the other day prepping it for a new stereo.

Poor neglected Yota.... hahahaha. I totally get it, however.... I had a 280Z 2+2 5spd that was SO clean, but had some harder to deal with issues.... So I focused on the 69 SS Chevelle.... Then sold that and focused on the 70 Z28... then sold that and focused on the 67 GTA Mustang..... Then FINALLY, 2 years later, got back on the Z and 3 days later was t-boned and totaled..... GRRR! hahaha.
