Well as of right now, I don't really want to sell it, but if i get an offer on it. by all means, i'll entertain it if its reasonable.

I really want to just do some preventative maintenance, get the lift on, get some new tires and be done...

haha yeah. Like i said, I might just put the lift on, put tires/rims on it. and do a little preventative maintenance.

my heart is REALLY into the mustang right now. I literally go out into the garage, look at it and just imagine myself cruising around aimlessly. ( I haven't really had a sports car since I was 16 ) So im at that age where its really itching at me.

Granted, I love the 4Runner but I want to stop putting so much money into it. The mustang is at rock bottom and it can only go up. But that doesn't even matter to me. I just want it painted, the towers fixed, a nice sounding motor with a 5 speed

You put so much work into it for so long, I think you would regret selling it after only a short amount of time. It's your decision though.

I have to admit, when I first read you put an ad on Craigslist, I immediately thought of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umDr0...eature=related

So I got the exhaust leak on the 4Runner fixed. and on my way back home, It popped a heater

NOW all i can think of now is the thermostat is fried and there's a blockage in the cooling system. Which is causing my overheating and what not. So we'll see.

The only thing that gets put on this vehicle is Toyota, Aisin, Denso or NGK. I dont believe in going cheap.

Same way with my Ford... Only motorcraft parts!

sooo...what happened with all that oil? if someone messed with your rig, that's totally F**** up! someone once loosened the lug nuts on my k5 blazer the same night they messed with some of my other friend's cars - lucky for me, the wheel came off 100yds from my house at the END of my drive and not on the 1mile of freeway I drove that night...coulda killed me and the friend I drove home that night! (Note to self: don't leave wheel tools easily accessible on topless rig in front of house where neighbors hate rowdy college students who party there every night)

Good to know there's nothing wrong with your 4runner, but I dunno about selling it just to go with a newer rig unless you have a really good reason or just have lots of $ burning a hole in your pocket. I'd say since it's back to running again, stop putting money into it and just drive it like everyone else does their Toyotas, and focus on fixing your other car. Sure a 3rd gen will "look better" than the older model, but it also comes with a bunch more electronics BS and you'll be back to square one with having to re-spend your $ on mods. Plus, I doubt you're gonna find many 3rd gens with less than 150k for less than $8k...and your 4runner is already paid for....so IMO if you have $ burning a hole in your pocket, then SAS, engine swap, and dual case your 2nd gen and we won't be hearing this blasphemy again.

this idea has crossed my mind too. Who knows, we'll see. Everytime I see the Mustang, I want to fix it up.... But honestly, my original idea was to keep the 4Runner, stop putting money into it after i put new tires on it ( since i have rims, and the lift waiting to be installed ) and just drive it while i put money into the mustang. So we'll see... If i sold it for 8500... that'd be a nice chunk of change. I've wasted so much money with my current 4Runner, If I could start over and do it all again, i totally would. but thats wishful thinking lol

So the fan clutch was toasted... Which makes absolutely no sense, because I just rebuilt it. I guess if you neglect it long enough, it just burns up the bearings and then theres no hope?

So new fan clutch from Toyota. should be good to go.

Seriously had an extensive debate earlier though. Is the fan shroud NECESSARY on these vehicles? my mechanic is seriously telling me that its fan shroud or overheat, plain and simple. But i've never heard of a fan shroud being NEEDED. my Mustang operates just fine without one. All the fan shroud is for is protecting stubby fingers. So why does the 4Runner need one?

Without it you won't pull as much air volume through the radiator. I found on my 22R it was hard to keep it cool in the summer not moving. Even half a shroud.helps

Ive been told that the shroud gives the air more direction, focusing the air to channel directly to the block, goes along with why people seal up as many gaps between the shroud and radiator so it really helps to pull the air through the rad as opposed to around it. Think of it as a route from pulling the air through the rad thus cooling your fluid and two fold of pushing that same air across your block. Also your mustang is made of technology thats what 30 years older then your 4runner? Just something to consider.

there is a gap between the fan and the radiator. without the shroud it just pulls air after radiator and some thru it. these 3.0 dont like heat so why risk it. i recently was talking to a toyota field rep about a newer 2010+ toyota forgot which model but it had an odd over heating issue and ended up being the gap between the fan shroud and radiator. a little foam tape and the problem was fixed.

the shroud makes the fan pull air thru the little holes in the radiator

Dude make it fit....

I run an E-Fan personally ... but on my other stock R's.. i split the shroud in half to make it simple to remove. Just fit that bastard in there man lol anything is better than nothing. And these motors arent finicky about lil gaps

Well heres the problem. The fan shroud doesn't fit between the radiator hoses. i've have to notch a circle into the plastic. and im not so sure the plastic can hold up to that kind of modifcation. I can try though

Got any pics of this hypothetical modification? My Radiator, stock, from toyota, has the lower hose outlet 4" in from the corner.......... "WTH?" I thought? haha... Ended up being a rare stock "Trailer Package" radiator............. Again, "WTH?" I thought, hahaha... "ON A 4CYL???" ... Nonetheless, the Radiator Manufacturer showed me in an old order guide that it's different and his guys made them for people on occasion. I had to find a properly bent hose for the bottom one as well... it was quite a bend, so I wanted one with wire support, too, which I found by spending some time in the back of O'Reilly's, haha... Reason I mention it is because.. Well, I'm wondering why your Shroud would have to be cut? Aftermarket Radiator fitment with it is a problem?
