It also has a slightly larger diameter tube and is a heavier / thicker wall than the pickup axle and will not be prone to bending like the pickup axles. It also comes with cross over steering. Yes it is IFS width 58.5" WMS which is a perfect match for IFS trucks.
A superb choice
. I don't know why more people don't use these for hilux and Tacoma SAS swaps. You get a little less ground clearance under the pumpkin and it weighs a bit more but it is 9.5" R&P and a lot stronger. Plus as you mentioned better front breaks.
I am in the process of installing a FJ60 axle under my 1984 pickup camper and eventually will do the same on my 1992 pickup, and match it up with a 2000 Tacoma rear axle.
I look forward to following along and seeing how yours turns out. So far I have not seen anyone else doing this swap.

haven't gotten around to it. a buddy of mine was back from the airforce. Im just gonna zip tie it back on and see if that works. It hasn't over heated in about 2 weeks, but its also been raining and cold as hell.

I just bought some cheap autozone ones. 40 bucks a piece. I've never had problems with autozone brakes. Just make sure you get reman'd calipers and not new ones... the new ones always sieze up!

I'm just trying to make sense of that pic up there... with the light colored metal cap on the hub end??? lol. I had Auto Locking Hubs(not ADD).... and I don't remember having any cap, so just thought I'd ask if it's a "92 and up" type thing? lol.

I think so... Cuz my Auto Locking Hub is pretty much like a Manual Locking one inside... Just has a do-dat that auto locks upon 'foward motion with T-case engaged'.... To be honest, I wish they'd made them indestructible.... (or at least as tough as the Manual ones), cuz I DID like not having to get out in the heavy iced over mud in a storm up in the Sequoias in the Winter! lol.... I still have the whole kit, ....and it never gave me an issue... But I'm SURE it would have, eventually, after reading so many horror stories, ya know? some of the newer/HD trucks that have Auto Systems I've heard are really tough/solid... But VERY expensive(if they would even work with ours, anyway, ya know? lol).

My 90 2door 4runner also has the Locking plate on the hubs ( I have add) Essentially keeps the front end always engaged turning your cv's and such even when not in 4wd, as I am sure Mak is well aware. I took mine off and put a set of manual hubs on. Super simple and made a difference.

^^^ yep i've already done the conversion 2 or 3 times now. About to do it again. Initially i took my old ones off and sold them to fund my SAS. but i found myself just putting that money towards gas. lol 
so i bought another pair. gonna rebuild them and toss them on to save my new CV joints.
Here's my new set.
and I bought a brand new OME steering stabilizer off Highonpottery. He had an extra lying around in his garage. So i snatched it up!
right out of the box.

So after long thought. Im gonna hold off on my SAS...
Im going to keep the rig IFS for now but going for the 35" tire build. Here's how its going to be setup.
2" BJ spacers
FZJ80 rear coils
2" 4crawler body lift
Rancho RS9000s
extended brake lines
So Here's a picture of my coils:
Here's a picture of the 4Crawler 4" Drop bracket and LSPV:
I'll be getting the Body lift from 4crawler once I see how the truck sits with the lift on. Im going to be raising the bumpers and sliders. so itll look flush.
The main reason im passing on the SAS for now is because I think i'd rather just go with a mild lift and focus on Expedition modifications. I've been dying to have a trailer, roof rack and my 1st gen roll bar in my truck. I also want to bed line my whole truck and really give it that "offroad" look. I also want to get a roof top tent.
I'm going to be keeping the 4.88s as im going to be going with a 3.4 someday. I'll have the 2" body lift already installed. so with the 4.88s and 35s. it'll match up nicely.

I just wish the truck was clean, ish. Seeing my hood/roof oxidized makes me wish it had a nice paint job on it. but then again, if i painted it, it would just get scuffed/scratched again. so its on the fence post. Maybe someday when I dont have time to wheel it anymore, itll get a nice paint job and be a devoted camping rig / expedition only. I drive through too much brush to make it worth it right now
