So heres some more pics. I put the frontend back in , alot easier to do with the engine out...I also have went a little further with the engine. Need some intake gaskets and KelvinB gettin me some egr blockoffs doin the egr delete and clean up the intake. Still need to get my tank cleaned out and get a new fuel pump. Also snapped all the bolts holding where the rear factory mudflaps go... so im cutting off the tack welded nuts and actually insatlling my FIRST EVER american 5/16 nuts in place of the metric hardware.haha. Also took the ac compressor alternator starter to carwash and powerwashed and degreased too. suppost to give me 20min for $5 and give me 8 min but it was so cold i only hung out there for bout 6min. Took my dd a.k.a BUOY.

Was out in the garage and messing with the crusty rusty fuel sender. Ive been spraying it down with penetrating oil and couldnt get it to budge. Tried taking it apart, a cover comes off to show the internals but my dilemma is that i have a good 2 wire sender except the harness corroded off and i soldered two wires back on it but still pretty shady work. So i was trying to swap the good internals over to the 3 wire sender but dont think its gonna work. Dangit!! anyone ever messed with these?? I will not buy a new one from toyota cause i know its gonna be ridiculosly priced. Was trying to work with what i have. Also found a old inclinometer gauge cluster but the inclinometer is busted. I took it apart and a plastic peice is broke and missing. Double dang!

So i tried to get the trim peices off the top at KyleBs and couldnt figure out how to get to the fastener which looks like a screw that holds the outer black piece to the factory molded plastic. Maybe the pictures will help.So i fugured maybe getting some opinions before i destroy something would be the best option.

Doinf the front diff is so much easier with the engine out. On your fuel sending unit, just soak it with PB Blaster or Rust Dissolver and use a brass tooth brush and put the shine to it. Work it gently in the pivot point and it will free up and start moving as good as new within a few hours. Just light scrub, resoak it and keep repeating.

I will dig up the info on how to pull the L trims for you in a little bit. I cant tell from the picture, but you have to remove the whole glass from the top to get the Ltrims off.

Thanks Terry, yeah ive been doin the PB deal to the sender for a month. It started to move but when you look at the back side which connects to the float side of the rod, it doesnt move compared to the other nicer looking sender in the pic. Think something might be broke inside, but i really would like to get that one fixed cause my other one isnt setup for the low fuel light.

As for those fasteners on the L trim yea i thought i was gonna break something so i took pics to get opinions

THANKS AGAIN!!

more cold weather, haha bring it on!!

Received my EGR plates. yay. Thanks Kelvin!! Havent been able to work in the garage other than keeping the fire stoked so not really any updates.

Anyone know on the backside of the cylinder head there is a plate that bolts on. Is that for coolant passage or egr or what?? Probably should know better but thought id ask

What are you going to Di with the motor out of the truck you just picked up. If its decent I would be interested in taking it off your hands. I'm working on an 86 4runner that needs a head but would do a complete engine if its affordable.

Installed my EGR blockoffs last night, was wondering what the purpose of the crossover plate that bolts on the back of the cylinder head?? Coulda swore i seen a LC eng blockoff plate in a pic somewhere. Pretty excited about installing my engine. Almost positive i have my distributor set right.

List of things to do

1.Balljoint spacers diff drop shocks

2. Fix my fuel tank (rust) or get a junkyard tank

3. Fuel pump and sender

4. Mount 32 bfgs on my wheels

5. Finish installing rear mudflaps.

6. Find right rear taillight lens (found one off the 85 longbox 4x4 just bought)

Also i hope the auto tranny in this thing is good. Guess ill find out soon.
