We have those red bugs you are talking about, for the cold winter we had, it really didn't do much to kill the bug population off. I am still working on my part of getting rid of the bugs, I use the bumper and windshield to smack 'em. lol Once you coat the tank it will work out great for you. It is shocking to see how bad the tanks get in these. I have seen some bad ones.

well progress has been slow lately, just been covered up with other things. I did get a chance to get out and work on the old girl while I was home this time around. the injectors are back in, plenam is back on and most everything is hooked back up under the hood. I did take time this time to do some things that should have been fixed along time ago, fixed a few plugs etc that needed attention. I also got the fuel pump bracket cleaned up fuel lines blown out and things like that. I gave the tank one more good cleaning and got it coated.
so Im gaining, I still need to pick a few things up, fuel filter is the most important one. maybe next time Im home I will be closer to trying to fire it up but for now Im just takeing my time and trying to do things correctly.
Okay with all that said I have some new insperation to get this old girl up to par, a week or so ago a good friend of mine and I decided to start planning a road trip to cananda, he wants to drive his BJ40 landcruiser and I want to drive this one, we both have quite a bit of work to do as we are giveing ourselves to next semptember to have everything ready, this is not going to be a wheeling trip just a road trip in a couple old toyotas but I think its going to be a blast driving this old girl on a trip like this. I will be looking for advice from you guys on things that I might need to check, tighten, or rebuild before all this takes place so bring on the ideas. thanks for checking in.

i was wondering did you paint the fuel pump bracket or coat it with the tank liner?
i could see it being a good case for powdercoating paint in the gas id have to ehh likely to peel off could nickle/copper plate it as well (can be done at home with 12v dc)

You Cyberhorn I was wondering myself if I needed to do something with it, I haven't yet but will check around and see what my options are.

I think it's going to be a good time, as long as we can keep both trucks running with out to many issues.

Here is how you do a Fuel Pump Bypass on the 85/86.
Jumper wire the Yellow Plug on Drivers side. ( Jumper wire should be in both contacts for testing, I just didnt have it in for picture purposes and mostly a referece for me at a later time.)

SHE RUNS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!! She still has a few issues, not starting as easy as it did before, and stumbles really bad at higher rpms, but did I mention SHE RUNS. Im sure the issues Im still haveing are vacume related and will be for the most part easy to sort out from this point. I drove it down the road for a mile or so and like I said shes running but still need a little work.

A quick shout out to all you guys that spent hours on the the phone and here on YT for all your help with getting to this point Terry, cyberhorn, mark, you guys rock I promise at the moment Im grinning ear to ear.

Thanks mark for all your help to.

Tinkered with it a little more, still hard to start and idling kinda high but the high rpm studder has kinda went away.
I will get the rest of it sorted out and keep y'all updated, back to work tomorow so it will be a couple weeks before I get back to it.

Here is the Os sensor I bought and is the best price I found for the 86's.

Haven't done much with the runner the past few weeks just been to busy, however the last time I drove it I smelt gas bad got it back in the shop to find gas dripping every where, I dug into that the other day and it turned out to be the rubber part of the return line from the rail to the hard line back to the tank, trimmed it back put it back on fired it up and with in seconds another leak, pulled it back off and blew air thru the hard line, what ever was in it isn't anymore, replaced the fuel line with new and she runs again although my idle issue has changed 180 degrees now I CNT get t to idle, still thinking vacume leaks and will get to those soon. I have also picked up a few things for a couple of near future projects. Thanks for checking in and stay tuned.
