everything on the door is standard, but the main bolts are 1/2", which is close enough to 13mm. i have a set of ratcheting combination wrenches i use for the doors.
as for swapping them out, i can change the doors out in about 15 mins by myself. and that's without that much practice

looks good Ian... now you need to get an alarm with one of those proximity radar sensors they use on convertibles and jeeps to scare away the tweakers... and put a locking glove box latch in... etc. etc.

put mah doors on for work today. i found i can get most of the stuff ready the night before, so all i have to do in the morning is remove and replace. took about 10 mins, and i was cruisin'

Did you know about this, elocker shaft length:http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/toyot...rs-trucks.html

interesting read. now i'm all concerned about breaking a third, thanks a lot!
you're having your shafts custom-made, right? so you'll be sure to get full spline engagement. what's your axle housing off of? (the new one)

Another option might be to just take a whole tacoma e locker axle and swap that on as one piece no?
All you might need to do is change the ring/pinion gears to get the right ratio.

aviator: i'm planning on a full-float rear, so i can live with it like that for now. i'm not running large tires or a big motor either.
rb: let me know what you find. more than likely, i'll be following your lead for the axle shafts and hubs.
so if you went d-30's, you'd be using a drive flange, then?

Yes I've got some fj80 drive flanges coming. They are the new style that have more engagement, so I may be able to mill a bit off the top if it permits. The DF was changed for more spline engagement on the front axle due to the wear of the full time 4wd. We will see.

measured the parts, drew it up using google sketchup, took still shots of the positions, used an online .gif generator to make the animation.

and for this one, my phone has a .gif maker

just thought i'd share my compressor setup. someday, i want to mount it properly on the truck, but for now, it works great

i used empty propane tanks because a) they were free and b) they are good through 300psi

air hose and jumper-cabled harness

i didn't buy much, because it was basically a big circuit. a few automotive relays, a spdt switch, some led's, and wire. for the wire, i used 3-connector trailer wire (2 runs) to the e-locker, and servo wire (2 runs) for the switches and lights. not too long of a list
it's like a mini contractor-style compressor, but with more cfm
