Dunkin's 1990 4Runner 2DR Build-Up Thread
#281
My SAS 4runner drives like a dream on streets and freeway, easily do 90mph and let go of steering wheel and it cruises in a straight line no problem. Leaf up front but LC coils with spacers for the rear but drives fine and I drive it alot on the streets. Definitely worth and can get money shots like this

But do save up for an E locker or ARB locker, spooled is not that enjoyable on the streets!

Lucky guy. I personally hate the VAF and would much rather prefer a MAF set up. I ran this thing without a filter for a while, and it felt like I lost power when I installed the filter since the adapter actually cuts down the intake size.

yeah i have never been a big fan of them. not efficient. my only worry is having the air filter mounted right on the maf and playin funny business with the hot wire. need to look into a dry filter setup maybe.

I already booked his time next week! hahaha, jk... Hope you're loving it, Dunkin... And just be honest.... you light em up from time to time? lol.
Mak... in all seriousness... is that what you'd do if you swapped? I'm curious now! lol.

a flight to california? lmao you act as if that's expensive. I used to get round trips to pennsylvania for 300 bucks.

Actually,....if I found a donor, I'd LOVE to do it.... Just people down here, Mak, they're HIGH what they're asking for rigs that don't even have motors and blown trans', etc.

But, yeah. I love surprising the unsuspecting folks out there.
I rarely get up that way, unless I'm heading up 405. I live in Juanita and work on Rose Hill in Kirkland, so they are my primary stomping grounds. I'll keep an eye out for ya though!

Hey guys,
It's been a few months since I stopped by the boards, but I was able to get out of town last weekend and try my hand at some towing. I had U-Haul install the wiring since the trip was short notice and I didn't have the time to do it, and then I had one of my techs install some new Bilstein heavy duty rear shocks.
We left Monroe, WA Friday night and headed for Moses Lake to ride the piss out of some Raptor 700r's. The truck did phenomenal towing, granted it was a small trailer made from and old mid 70's Chev pickup bed with just one bike in the back. With all three of us in the truck, all of our gear and the trailer in tow we averaged 15mpg and she had no problem at 70-75 mph. I might add that the full size trailer is about 10" wider on each side of the truck! Haha, talk about some wind drag.
Pulled the pass eastbound only dropping into 4th twice to slow for corners. She managed 5th all the way home westbound.

I get to put my third transmission in the truck this weekend. I can't seem to keep second gear under control... just loving the power shifts. Good thing the "new" transmission was free, and has just a tick over 130k on it. The clutch is still holding well, and I have 9000 miles on it since the swap was completed last year.
Still loving every single mile.

I'll be installing another R150F. All of the old ones have had well over 250k on them, so I am not surprised that they shift like crap.
You know, I was terrified of it when I got started. It turned out to be much easier than I thought! Although, mine was OBD I where Shaggy when the complex route with OBD II. It's only time and patience.
