I think it only took 2 or 3 cans but the stuff works great for inner fenders too, so I picked up an extra can or two. It's holding up great! It fades a little over time and tree branches will scuff it up a little but all of that stuff happens to the paint too. I've thouched the sides up once and it's about time to do it again.

My one question is what kind of screws did you use to attach your CB antenna mount? Did you use sheet metal screws, or nuts and bolts?
Thanks, that means a lot! There's still more that needs to be done, but it's getting close!

I really like the auto, I know it can be gutless behind a tired 22RE, but it's freaking awesome on the trail and it does good around town (except taking off from a stop light, it's a little slow until you get up to speed).

For the CB antenna, I used bolts and nuts, there is just enough room if you pull the tail light. It's a lot stronger than using sheet metal screws.

That's awesome! (It sucks that you had to get rid of the Turbo, though)

After seeing this picture I think the truck is in need of one hell of a wax job!

You should let me know the next time your up here, we could grab a beer or something. I have not been snow wheeling in a few weeks, most of the trails around here are popular with snowmobiles and I don't want some one ripping around a corner and smashing into the front of my truck. Early and late season are fine (maybe night wheeling too), but the middle of December is asking for trouble.

There are a couple trails I know of that don't have much traffic, but then you run into cross country skiers. I think they get madder than anyone else, they can be MEAN! Once we get some more snow I'll be more excited to get out. I'd really like to go run Trough trail with a little snow!

After I installed the new transfer case I have not noticed any issues, I'll have to give it a while and see if it happens again.

Have you had anymore issues with this?

I am getting ready to take my rig out of storage in February and start fixing the problems. Once I get the t-case leak fixed, the front axle rebuilt and the heater situation figured out, we should hit up a trail.

Nope, it seems that switching over to the gear drive T-case has solved all the small auto issues I have had. Overall I'm very happy with the auto and I'm glad I kept it. (knock on wood ).

Let me know when your 4Runner is going and we'll go wheeling.

will do, I'm going to fix the t-case leak, rebuild the front axle and install a bud built t-case skid and it will be ready to go.

Thanks! I've worked at a couple 4x4 shops in the past but it was in the sales/service writing area, now I work on Ford vans all day.

Hey man.. first of all dude you have done a awesome job on this 4runner.

couple questions ..
does that turbo dash cluster use an electronic speed sensor for the speedometer or is it cable driven and the cluster converts the speed .

second what size die did you use to make the bends on your rear bumper what radius, and was it the same for the front.

i really like the bends on the rear bumper..

and im with you on the auto and gear case great combo. Thanks !!

It's been a while since I've updated this, so here we go...

Work has been busy and the snow sucks around here, so I have only been out snowboarding once. It was kind of stupid to have that huge Thule box on top and not use it. I sold the box and bought the Yakima Powderhound two board carrier. Before I had a chance to install it I had a tree branch catch the Thule bars and it ripped them half way off the truck.

I think the truck look's better without it anyway. I will need to find a new place for my Hi Lift but I think I have something figured out for that.

I finally got rid of the factory center console. It had the factory rear heater that took up a bunch of room. I removed the heater lines a while ago because of how close they were to the rear driveshaft and the fact that I never used it. By chance this Christmas I picked up a cheap small 12 volt cooler/warmer at a Xmas party and thing was just about the perfect size to replace the factory console. I don't know how long it last, or how well it will work, but even if it stops working it's a good size and it was free.

The sweet old factory one

And the new set up

oh yeah, is there any reason you can't just stick the snowboards inside?

I'm ready. I might cut the tailgate off and do some major trimming so I might be down for a little while. I HAVE TO go snowbashing this winter / spring, no matter what.

You like the "Throwback"? I really like them, I wish they would stick around longer

I can, but the back window likes to freeze sometimes when its cold and the boards don't fit very well in the back seat. I have a plan for the rack but it might take a while before I can make it work.

I works fine as a arm rest, even better than stock. The stock console sat a little low and you had to hunch over to use it. This one is a little higher and feels a lot better, if the plastic bothers me I'll just throw a towel over it.

The Throwback is great, I really hope they keep it around for a while.

We should do some snow wheeling before you start your tailgate project. Let me know what might work for you and I'm sure we can figure something out.

I first mounted my rear cargo light, I wanted something bright that would light up the entire cargo area. I also wanted it to be out of the way, here's what I came up with.

It's a cheap Wal-mart fog light that I had in the old truck, mounted on the back of the fiberglass top.

I ran the wiring down to the corner of the top, where the factory connector is for the rear wiper. I plan on building a complete accessory wiring harness for all the lights and other stuff. Once I build that, there will be a connector for removing the top.

And with everything back together

hey man, where did u wire the light to? to the door so it goes on with the door? to the deck light switch?
