Dang, that could really suck, indeed! Mine went on pretty well, nice and snug, but that Key really can be difficult to get in.......especially if you don't do it until you have the seal in! lol. Actually, I had to replace my front main seal, because Aisin sent me one with a torn face on it. It wasn't cut through, but NO WAY was I going to leave that alone, ....so went down to Toyota and got a replacement, ....Rock Paid for it, so all was good.

Have you ever seen a key cut into like mine was? We used to do quite a few big blocks, chevy small blocks too, but never saw that, even with half million miles. lol.

BTW, I'm kinda pissed, can't find my CSI bolts!!!! GRRRRR! lol. I just saw them, but got 3 phone calls in a row, must have put them down somewhere, and VOILA, ....they'z missin! lol. Oh well, shouldn't be too difficult to replace.

Ok, well I HAVE to Crash, ....must serve breakfast for MANY in the morning, lol. BUTTTTTTTT, I wanted to share where I stopped before coming in to crash.......

I think I might be done, tomorrow, ....but I wont be starting it up, just yet. I have to tow it to the Muffler show down the street(GOD BLESS AAA!, HAHA), then tow it back here to do the initial start up. We'll see, most likely Thursday, ....but I'll be sure to Video it, granting my Camera will work!

Thanks, guys, hoping it doesn't blow up, doesn't tick like a Mac Diesel, doesn't.....well, you get the point, haha. NIGHT, and GB-Yotatech!

Looking good Chef!!!!

Been lurking in the background admiring your work. It brings back memories of the engine rebuild my son & I did for his 89 truck last summer.

It's nice to see another person tack the time and due dilengence to clean-detail every part prior to going back on.

Love your paint scheme - got me thinking about mine (when that day arrives).

Keep up the good work.

Mark

HEY 92~~!,

Man, I'm sorry to see that happen with that bolt/bushing/nut! FARKING ICEHOLE BOLT! haha. Actually, stuff like that happened about 4 times to me, where I had to actually tear things back down again....COMPLETELY, haha. It happened so many times, that after the 4 times, I began to laugh, hysterically, every time it happened again! Oh well, I know that's no comfort, lol, but I guess I figure, "if this thing is BEATING ME, ....I'd better do some reverse psychology on it and LAUGHHHHHHHH!" hahahaha. I THINK IT WORKED!!!! lol. OH<> BTW<> ....The Battery? ...It's not grounded yet. I know, I should re-remove that for now, thanks!

Rob, thanks, man! I had many people saying "GO RED ALL THE WAY!"...but I'm mildly OCD, and that JUST WONT FLY, hahaha....TOOOOOOOoooooo much red! So, I went with the Dull Aluminum High Temp/Torque Paint(it's the kind you can hammer on, supposedly, hahaha...Yeah, not buying that one) with the red inset. My brother in-law can get that freeway paint(he owns a hazmat co.), which I HAVE SEEN, first hand,.....you can hammer on it and not chip it! But, I figured, .....NAH, I don't have the skill to paint with that stuff in a special tip air brush, etc. Grrrr! lol. OH well, eventually, I'll pull it off and fix the masking boo-boo I did! lol.

HEY, ANOTHER MARK! lol. Thanks, Mel63, and btw.....My best friend lives in Eugene. He used to live in Moroe(?) Bay, right near a big aquarium where he worked. DANG YOU GUYS HAVE BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY THERE! I lived in Spokane, right on the lake, ...short time in Post Falls, Idaho, ...but never been to OR, GRRRR! Sorry, it's just that I LOVE 4x4 trips back into the sequoias, along with the Photography that I get while in there, ....and Oregon???---HOLY CRAPOLI! lol....it's really that beautiful and green! ...PS> I rebuilt my daughters 87Camry Wagon with her, ....THAT WAS ONE OF MY BEST MEMORIES so far with her(she's 20 now, lol), and she learned quite a bit about cars in the process!

Question:

Anyone know if there is a connector thingymadoer that I can hook up my Camcorder to the computer? It's a digital JVC BIG OL THING! lol. Holds those smaller tapes, ....and I'd like to use it, just because the quality and sound is so much better, ....plus, I don't have a digital-SD cam, so I'm not sure I have 100 to spend on one just for this...ya know? I'ma call my sister, too, see if she has one I can borrow.

PSS> What is the average life of a Fuel Pump? I'm trying to replace mine, WHAT A PITA! Anyway, could a fuel pump cause the motor to hesitate and such, as mine did before, after warming up for a minute or so, ...then go back to running fine?

In my experince, a bad electric fuel pump will sound sick & give slow starts. You should be able to turn your key on & listen around the tank & hear the pump run for a breif second.

OK, GETTING CLOSE....I named this photobucket album, "The Final Countdown"....DANG I'M NERVOUS! ..........

Then hooked up final hoses to IACV and Dashpot.......

Then I got the boot on and some more.........

Now working on the final pieces..........

I think it looks pretty cool, the colors....I'm glad I didn't do what I almost did, ....painting it all red....it would have thrown me into an OCD breakdown! lol.

Keep me in yer prayers, guys! lol

PS> Just wanted to add that a few machinists, including the builder I chose, told me to BE SURE to use Zinc Additive and no detergent oil, especially in the first 20 minutes of running, and to NOT allow the rpm's to drop below 2000 during those 20 minutes. Just wanted to share what I have found out...anyone else hear this? I'll take a pic of the Zinc product, as most auto parts stores I visited don't have it.

Thanks, ToyoSpearo!(love that name btw, hahaha). My brother in-law used to come back with countless lobsters from King Harbor, on some of his 3am Crustacean Runs! SHHHHHHHHHHHH, lol. Glad to hear you like the look. I REALLY sweated over which scheme to paint it, lol. The block is red, too, so like I said, I figured "better go with a couple diff. colors up top. Plus, black matches everything, ahhaha, so I left the brackets alone, ya know?

Fhewwwwwwwwww, getting nervous about the first start up, though. I have a good feeling! lol.

I agree that the color schem looks great!

I have heard all of the same things about the first start up. Zinc additive & 20 minutes above 2K RPM for brake in.

Thanks, Rob, Pismo!

Thanks for the site, Joe, and sorry to say, THEY ASKED ME TO WORK TONIGHT! AHHHHHHHHHH! Oh well, I just have to deal with it, and trust me, I'M GRATEFUL that I have the work to do, in the first place!

Well, I have about 10 Vacuum lines, the radiator to hook up and well, then I guess it'll be time to tow it down in the morning to the Exhaust shop!

Talk to you soon, guys,

Chef Mark

OK, BACK! I'ma head out there, now, try to finish up tonight, (turn key ready), then tow it to the exhaust shop tomorrow( I would just fire it up without the pipes on, ........BUT NO WAY, are you kidding?) lol. Not to mention, it'd probably get me thrown out of here! lol.

Take care, guys, hope to start it up tomorrow, but we'll see!

I also shortened up some vacuum lines and installed the front vacuum module that goes on the Valve Cover, the radiator hoses, Radiator(DERRRRRRR< LOL), shroud and AFM kit remainders. I'd love to have finished, but MAN, it keeps taking longer than I expected....anyone else experience that? HAHAHA. Also, my daughter takes front seat, ....so like I said, s'all good, it can wait for her.

Take care, guys, talk to you tomorrow some time, try to have a GOOD UPDATE FOR YA! Lol.
