Thanks, Ian!
.......... It felt good! lol. I wanted more, but dude, it was WARFARE today! NOTHING worth a crap will be left by this evening, let alone the rest of the weekend! BUT, new stuff keeps coming, ya know? (50% off leads to CARNAGE! LOL)
Boosted.... Only problem with that is, ......the 3rd members, calipers and so forth are the first to go on the trucks,.... ANY brand/ESPECIALLY Toyota's! They often leave the driveline though..... So you might have a good shot in that arena. At least here, in L.A., there is a group of Mexican dudes that OWN the Pick-U-Parts, and deal exclusively in third members and other more frequently needed/wanted parts worth high dollar. I think they pay 30$ for them at Pick-u-part...and, well, you know they get 5 times that in most cases. YARD RAPISTS! lol. WHILE I was getting these seats, these guys were trying to take the Headrests! WTH? I stood straight up and said, "Alto! Todos Necessitos!" (STOP, I need everything!) hahahaha. They got the rear speaker covers(NICE) and rear seats(EVEN NICER than my fronts)... and then picked EVERY headrest from every other seat just like this one I got! WTH???? I know, it's Pick-u-part, ....but c'monnnnn, now NO ONE will likely grab those other seats. These headrests are EXPENSIVE, cuz they ratchet forward up to 3-4"(GREAT on the neck)... Just like my stock seat headrests... but mine? Mine are around 2" thick or so, ....whereas the Camry seat headrests(which FIT RIGHT IN mine, btw!) are around 5" thick, SUPER padded, etc..
BMcel....... Honestly? Not to tick you off, lol.... BUT, there were 3 1ST GENS there today! 2 bench seats and 1 buckets from an 83 that was REALLY straight, body wise. I wish I could make a side business out of this(Toyota Parts in general, NOT just seats, lol), but there just aren't enough hours of free time in my schedule, ya know? I know the 1st gen set up is different on the brackets, etc., but if you measured and then set out to figure out which would work best,...YOU WILL find something. The Camry seats might be best for ya, because they're CLOSE, most likely, ...and also because they're REALLY comfortable! I'm not kidding... I tried around 50 different seats in the last several days..... These were even more comfy than the newer Scion seats I'd thought over(Still might do that, eventually, as I'm SURE the Scion Seats are build to last a bit longer, ....they seemed MUCH firmer.) Also a factor, ..... I'm a big guy. Not super fat or anything, lol... But aside from being a bit overweight, I'm REALLY wide in the shoulders and back(54" or so in the Upper Coat Measurement)... This makes it VERY difficult for me to be comfy in "Race" or "Hard Edge Bucket" style seats, ya know?
Probably the most Comfy seats I sat in were these. .....
2004-2009 Scion XB(SUPER comfy, wider just where it counts/didn't have that aggressive HARD curving in the shoulders like the TC/ and even better measurements as far as 'bolt right in' for the 1st gen runners)
90's Celica GT/GT-S Seats... But they weren't build very well, or something to do with how people get in and out, cuz they were almost always TOE-UP! lol.
98 or so Mazda Minivan(can't remember the name, ...help? lol)... But too tall for most applications without hacking A LOT off the rails, lol
2000 Hyundai 4 Door luxury(Elantra?... Can't remember, sorry, the emblem was gone, so off memory, just can't recall).... These were SUPER comfy!
Honda Oddessy Seats(were probably the MOST comfy, but again, mostly electric and needing a bit of modification/more than I'd like to mess with at the moment)
Subaru Impreza,...seemed to be almost direct bolt in.... But couldn't find any that weren't tore up. VERY comfy, too.

I LOVE the Toyota Adjustable Lumbar(My Camry ones have that) and the adjustable head rests.... they are REALLY important for me on long drives, and I wasn't about to get ANYTHING that didn't have them. I think the Celica's were solid headrest set up IIRC....so I avoided them as well. (The Camry head rests wouldn't fit in there, either....different set up.)

Mark, hit those seats with a healthy mix of simple green, then use a steam cleaner on them. I bought an el cheapo fabric steamer from target. Then, if you have one use one of those portable spot-bots, it squirts water( hotter is better) and then vacuums it up. My 1st gen seats look factory fresh, and they had monkey hands all over them. It took quite a bit of elbow grease but it was work it.
If you don't have a spot-bot, or some type of steamer Vac, saturate the fabric and use a wet-dry Vac on them. Repeat as necessary.

Hey Guys, ...thanks alot! lol.
Well, I'm kinda bummed, .....not that it's impossible, but it'll take some definite fab/modding to get these Camry Seats to fit.... It would also be pretty much miraculous to get the seats to bolt up to the 4Runner seat frames, too. And even if I could, I think the lever would be pushing on the door. BUMMER!
Well, ..... I have to think it out, I haven't given up yet... just trying to see how I can get them to work. No matter what, they'll be literally pushing on the console(not squishing, but definitely pushing against it) in order to make them clear the doors. I guess that's cuz the Camry has such a smaller console(more narrow where it matters).
I'll report back when I can. Sorry for the let down, guys!
lol.

Not a let down lol...now we're just anxious to see what you come up with to get them to fit! Based on the motor problems you've had, I don't take you as the kinda guy to give up without a fight.

Hey guys, thanks a lot! I was really not in a HAPPY-HAPPY/JOY-JOY state of mind at the time I typed that! lol. Not only the issues I ran into, but some other personal things came up, then THE FREAKIN COMPUTER FROZE! Then, I'm speaking with a guy who said he'd be over to help me out(a guy I helped for over a week!)....and couldn't get a hold of him. LATER, i thought, "Geeesh, I hope he's ok!".... and "computers suck, but meh, whatever", and so forth, ... but MAN, I was really gripping the wheel to the point of tearing the rubber! lol.
Later on, a guy called me back after 3 days, out of nowhere and he said, "Hey partner, I'm an old coot and I'm working early 2mrw, ....want that Hi-Lift?".... I headed down, 3 miles, to Torrance, and picked up a 60"(?or so?) Hi-Lift with Mounting Wing-quick release mounting brackets, Heavy Duty bastard for 30$..... Pretty happy about that.
I MIGHT try to make these seats work.... But they're the 'dial' type recline/raise set up.... (they fail less, but not as convenient, and mine lasted 24 years and only broke because I screwed up).... So I'm not sure I want to bother and start drilling/cutting/welding on new mounting brackets. But man, they are SOOOOOOOOOO COMFORTABLE! lol. Either way, I shouldn't have trouble selling them if I need to, ya know?

Hey, which Pick-U-part has 50% off? I was at the one on Vermont and north of 182nd today. They have couple of 3rd gen. runners there. One of them still have front seats in them. I was there for the air cleaner tank for my 3.4

PCH and Blinn, north of PCH yard is where I was at today. The other day, for the Camry Seats, i was at the smaller(not much) yard just south of PCH on Blinn. Just take Torrance to the 110S, get off at PCH and take PCH South East toward Long Beach, head a couple miles southeast til you see Blinn(They have "Pick-U-Part" signs right on a wall on the Corner of Blinn and PCH that point you the way to the one that's North 'Left' on Blinn.
Happy Hunting!

Hey guys
I hit the other Pick-U-Part, today, just up the street from the one I found the Camry Seats at.... After a few hours of walking the GIANT PLACE, I'd found at least 3 4Runners(all 2nd Gen), but they Didn't have any seats or, while one had Gray Seats, working mechanically, they had decent tears in them and had foam coming out of the Headrest, just like mine.(Mine is falling apart and half of the foam has fallen out of the driver side head rest, on top of the fact that the Seats Mechanical portions are TOAST).
I checked measurements of many other rigs, .... turns out the Preludes, Integra's, early 90's Civics, and a couple others ARE fairly close and would work.... but couldn't find any that weren't tore up.... and when I finally did(black and gray), I found they just weren't right, ergonomically, for me.
Then, while about to leave, I found a Newer Model Maxima...... Dark Charcoal Gray Leather Seats, near mint condition, that I'm pretty sure I can make work. Exact measurements inside to outside on both driver and passenger side, nearly exact from front to back on the outside of both, but on the inside, they're set up for mounting to the tranny hump....but also have a hole facing downward. The distance from rear to rear is 18", same as mine... So I think the best way to do it will be to remove my seat mounting feet and weld them right over the right spot on my rig. The driver seat is electric and the passenger is not. So, while I might have to make them fit(modding one bolt hole location... which I might just drill out a new one, further back).... they are by far the most comfortable seats I've sat in out of 100 in the last few days. The sales dude realized that driver was electric, passenger was mechanical, but I was cracking everyone up, including him, so he said, "Meh, ..... 41$ and change for both, we're good", kinda quietly, and I walked out with em for 40$. I have to rig up the wiring, but I think I have that figured out already. At least 5 people stopped me on the way out and even near my rig and said, "You got those in there? TODAY???????" ..... And a Nissan/Infinity Guy told me those are the best they ever made, quality wise, ....so I could probably get 4-5 times my money back, easy for the pair. I figure for 40$, ..... and I can resell em if it's a bust.... WHATEVER! lol
I PLAN ON MAKING THEM WORK! hahaha. I figure, like Wabbit said, "I say get ones that are VERY comfortable, just what you want, and make em fit!" is what stuck with me all day. I like the Camry seats, but the reclining/raising portion is the 'round/dial' type, that you have to turn around and around to get to recline/raise. Makes sense, they were out of a 4door.... But why should I have to deal with that if I don't have to, right?
Was a great learning experience, so far, and its' really got me wanting to re-carpet, redo some interior blunders of the PO(like cutting holes for 6x9's in the rear like a blind banshee! lol)..... and more. I will be REALLY stoked if I make these work... but again, .....no doubt I will get my money's worth out of them if I can't.
My good buddy Andy is coming by, tomorrow, and once again, he will be helping me to make this work(Without him, I probably wouldn't have ever gotten this deep into fixing these rigs.... VERY grateful, brudda!). If I have to, I will GLADLY visit Scoob down in Temecula if it comes down to needing to weld in some stuff(not sure Andy has that equip. here in CA.)
Wish me luck, guys... I'll have picks up tomorrow in the light! OH, of the Hi-Lift, too!

wow another set of seats. you might as well mount the camry ones in place of the back seat. make it 4 captain seats. haha
another thing you can do is make a square mount that bolts into the existing spots on the truck. than bolt the seat to the square mount. sure your gonna raise the seat a bit, not sure if this is gonna be a problem... that way you dont drill any extra holes in the truck. its was i would have tired to do and gonna do for my 82

I will be checking out your seats soon, that is going to be on my list of things to do soon.
A while back you were asking about the door glue for the seals and saying about air leaks. Today as I was driving, sometimes mine is real quiet and other times I get a air noise. Today I started checking into the air leak and noticed it was coming from the top, rear corners and with a little pull, I could seal the noise off.
I got to thinking maybe I just need to readjust the doors, but further inspection showed that my door hinges have a sleeve the covers the pin that holds the to hinges together. It looks like it might be that the hinges may have cut into the sleeve, causing alot of slop.
I was wondering if this may be some cause of your noise. You can tell quick by picking up on the end of your door and see how much movement you may have. I havent looked into the fix for this just yet, but am hoping that maybe I can just replace the sleeve and not the whole door hinge.

Yep the bushings in marks drivers side door are toast, that would for sure cause air leaks.

I should have just went for the seats I read on many sites that fit pretty well..... Integra, Civic, etc. I wound up finding a 92 4Runner driver seat and it fit and will work, for now, but I have to say, ....they're not as comfortable as the 84-89 4Runner seats. They hug on my ribs too hard. I'm still thinking it out and I'm determined to find the most comfortable seats I can... But the Nissan ones will not work w/out pretty major modification(the rails are WAY too long, too, going into the back seat. I could try to get the pass. seat onto my frame, ..but the electric driver seat? Not likely that would work.

I was wondering if this may be some cause of your noise. You can tell quick by picking up on the end of your door and see how much movement you may have. I havent looked into the fix for this just yet, but am hoping that maybe I can just replace the sleeve and not the whole door hinge.
