Hef chef i was watchn the video and i seen that the seat is way higher but as far as the head room and visibility out the windsheild ( is your head hitting the roof/are you looking into the sunvisor). Dont know if i missed you talking bout tht but was thinking if your not close to the roof or looking at the visor then just match the driver side height to the passenger side. Dont know if this was any help just blurting out some things that came to mind when i seen the video heck may of missed the part you tlke dbout that stuff to LOL. Just tryn to help ya get all kicked bak in ya ride. Best of luck on the seats

Hey Chef.Just watched your video and see your dilema. Those replacement seats look great and proably would be great. I am sure the is some fabricating genuis out there, but it isnt me. I dont have ay suggestions that might make it workout. I know you spent alot of time looking for these and now this and know that is a downer.
When I stripped that rust bucket I had, I pulled the seats apart and wondered if the cusions were interchangeable from passenger to driver side. I looked that way to me. I didnt try it as they were ruined.
You might try like Philbert did. You also have a greater selection of parts out there. Would they sell just the passenger seat as it will be less worn the drivers side.
I am in the same boat as you are. Trying to get comfy seat and get them looking good. I have been checking upholstery shops and they are expensive. I haven given up yet.

Thanks, man.... ANY input is always appreciated... I'm not 'one of those' guys, lol.... To answer your questions/input;
1. To be honest, I might just REALLY press in and make feet extensions like Ian did(minus his switching to the yota-frames), and most likely will end up heating up and bending down the Scion tC front mounts, cut off the dowels and then bolt them into some box steel pipe with holes already in it(or drill out my own, depending on location of pre-drilled ones). The inside mounting tabs just need to be ground off a lil bit to clear the center console and then do the same box steel mounting trick on that side.(I might use the box head bolt method like Ian, if I can find some square pipe steel with square cut outs for those style bolts... Well see)
2. As I said, the driver seat CAN be lowered all the way down to where it's TOLERABLE... but I will have to try test fitting them one more time before cutting anything away! hahaha(I don't wanna screw up being able to sell these Scion tC seats if they wont be REALLY practical, ya know? Start cutting, ...well, .....then they're as good as "I'ma Bolt em into the back for drive in movies!", and that's it! lol)
I'm also going to be taking my driver seat to Torrance Upholstery, the guy who did my console lid........

Just see what he says... Can't hurt, right? I'm guessin it would be WAY too much to be worth it, especially considering it's damaged in the frame, etc., ... but WHO KNOWS, lol... We'll see, ... yet again, hahaha.

See, that's the thing, Outsane(thanks for the link, btw)....
I spent DAYZZZZZZZ sitting in every seat on the list in the "4runner seat swap" boards... and therein, found every one, in the "Pick-your-Parts" of Wilmington... THEY'RE HUGE! lol.... And that's the thing, the MR2 Seats are nice, but they're just a lil tight on the 'wings' for me. I mean, I don't mean to sound picky or silly about this.... I just need to be comfortable, as when I drive(which is a lot), it's sometimes for 300-600 miles.... And everyone knows what bad seats can do to you in that distance/time, ya know??? lol.
Yeah, they're(Scion tC seats) a lil tall, indeed. I don't think they're so tall that MOST people can't be comfy... I'm near 6' and while that's not too tall, .......but I just don't want to be uncomfortable in ANY WAY, ya know? lol. I mean, I haven't put all this time and taken up all this space in my garage to do it, "Meh, whatever" style, hahaha.
I will be near the pick-your-part, tomorrow, and I will try out the MR2 seats again, just to be sure. The prelude seats weren't bad, either, but they're ALMOST ALWAYS tore up. I'd have to check those again as well... And honestly? I'm not about to 'get more seats' building up here until I have TOTALLY ruled out the Scion tC seats. THEY ARE CUSH, Homie... I am not kidding! lol.

What about these? lol....I've read a few times that these work, fairly easily>>> It's a 2dr. Impreza, with rear release levers, etc., .........

I KNOW, just what I need, another set of seats, hahaha... But 40$ obo????

Yeah, 40$ is crazy... It's a kid, I spoke to him... But it's not exactly the next town over, if ya know what I mean, hahaha. I guess for 40$ and a chance it MIGHT be worth it... But then those bolsters might be a bit tight and aggressive, too... as well as I have NO IDEA if they're comfy in general, ya know? Found some others, 2002, but they're from a 4door, ....NO MORE 4DOOR! lol.
I'm off to cook for a lil bit, but I'll be checking in when I can. Just that, doing baking, it's a bit harder to get on here and check in, ya know?
THANKS, OUTSANE, I really appreciate your input, man! I know, many don't want to chime in cuz they feel they don't know... which I understand, ........ And I guess the Scion tC seat issues, measurements, etc., have been spelled out pretty clearly... so I'm not sure I could add much more, ya know?
PS> ONE THING I noticed, guys...... The part of the tC seat that is keeping me/concerning me over removing the entire seat from the rail and slapping them on mine? I THINK it actually separates from the frame... But THEN, ....... HOW IN THE HELL would it work on MY frames, ya know? Plus, I think that portion that is bolted on to the tC frames is kinda protruding, so it might not fit in my rails. And, as I said, I'm not sure I want to start having to design new mechanisms for the seats, etc., ya know? A LIL fabbing/modding is fine, I'm down with that. But yeah... doesn't seem practical to try and swap the seat onto my frames. So I keep thinking it out or just BOLT EM IN, HIGH OR NOT! lol.

Hey guys, ....
Found a guy within 20 miles that has these.... he sent me a pic via email. 60$ for both front leather seats out of a 92-95 Civic Hatch Back.........

I might just look, that's all, cuz I have to be right by there, tomorrow... and I KNOW the Civic seats sit lower, etc, RIGHT? Lol. Hell, I would pull my pass. out before I go, just to mock fit and see...
I've not given up on the tC seats, ... I sat in them for 30 minutes today, taking a break, doing some reading..... REALLY are a well made seat, ergonomically, ya know?????? I wouldn't even have a question, to be honest, if they weren't so TALL OFF THE FLOOR, DANGIT! lol.
Just thought I'd throw that up there, see what you all think about those black leather seats.... He said there's not a single tear/blemish/burn, NOTHING, they're clean as brand new, because he took them out to put in these other ones within weeks of buying it... then totalled the car and so he just wants it all gone, etc., etc., yadda yadda. They do look pretty clean.

That seat looks comfy and the price for both is reasonable. I hear you on wanting to get a great seat. Having the best truck in the world doesnt do much if you cant sit in it for a period of time.
I am going to keep checking on reuphostry mine. The first quote for all of them was $400 the next was $5-600 and the third was $7-800. Just kind of hard when I only paid five hundered for the truck.
I have even tried searching the net for do it your self. I see on car shows where they show how to do it and thought I wanted to try it. I cant seem to find anything out there. I even looked at Katskins, out of my price range.
On the carpet. I got mine from the stockinteriors.com and am really happy with it. It was $140 I think for the passenger area but the trunk area is nearly as much. I checked upholstery shops and they didnt have much of a selection for red. Gray should be alot easier.
I finally found a home carpet store that sold indoor/outdoor carpet. It was the cheapest I found, I had to do alot of trimming but it turned out okay. Might be an option to look at. The trimming can take alot of time. It been a few minutes here and a few there that is taking this into like 3 days.
Bet there is going to be a celebration when you get your seat situation fixed. It will pay off. Especially the first time you run back to Arizona, thats when you will be glad you did your homework.

for the seats, measure the height from the front center on the seat cushion to the floor (or the bottom of the rails), on both the stock seats and the honda seats. that'll let you know how feasible the swap is. if stock is 5" and the honda's are 9", you might have a problem. if the seat rails are separate from the reclining mechanism, then you can swap out the rails like i did, eliminating headaches
#3279
i know this is out of the question but just slot the floor and drop the tC seats futher down... jk but its a option. scion/toyota seats in a toyota would be better than honda seats. im a huge honda guy but would never mix the two

Hey guys, .... SUP!?!?!?......... lol.........
Ok, I'ma just address everything mentioned/etc., without 'quotes'..... Sorry, the multi-quote thing isn't working, AGAIN, for me.
Terry, .... THANKS! Always love reading your posts... you're a deep thinker, as MOST EVERYONE on here is, ...and I just wanna say that I'm grateful for your input, always. THAT GOES FOR EVERYONE! Thanks! Far as the CIVIC SEATS.... I remember pulling some at pick-your-part and they bite too tight on my floating rib area and even scapula(wide shoulders). So, the Civic Seats are out, for sure.
......On the Carpet, I have an idea. I'm going to use the roll I have for the rear(have plenty) and eventually get a mold for the front, most likely from one of the companies you've noted. AGAIN, THANKS!
Ian, thanks to you, too, man! I will SURELY take that approach(secondarily noting the different mounting issues involved in front where ours mount to the 'lifted'/'risen' platform up front). If I find some seats like an 81-84 Supra, I KNOW they're lower, but they're always totally toe up! lol... But if I find some, I'll know it wont be much work to get them to fit and they'll roll forward enough and have rear release levers as well, ya know? For now, I'ma try to find a way to fit the tC seats.
Toyo....... AGAIN, THANKS! I really need the input/injection of info-theory in order to keep me interested.... Especially considering this seat is now REALLY causing me pain at anything over 20 minutes of L.A. driving! lol. I don't really care about mixing up the different models.... and I would use those Impreza seats in an instant if they fit(they were more comfy for me, I tried them out at the tC yard, ....he had a 4 door set.... which I wasn't even considering anymore at that point, hahaha. But I agree with trying to get the tC seats to work, primarily because THEY'RE COMFORTABLE! lol.
That brings me to the fact that I'm really ok with the fact that the tC seats are a LITTLE higher than I'd like on the passenger side, mainly because I RARELY have passengers... and if it doesn't work out, I have no problem running the stock seat on the passenger side and tC seat on the driver side, for now. Far as the driver seat, as I've mentioned, it lowers almost nearly to the floor.... and that makes it VERY feasible to 'deal with' the TINY bit higher seat on the driver side. Another thing I need to mention that I've totally forgotten is this..... The reason the driver side feels so much lower(where I'm sitting/height) is because IT'S COMPLETELY WORN OUT! lol. When I sit in the passenger side, it's FAR more noticeably higher. (Ok, maybe a couple inches, but that's a 'shock' to the eyes/body, because you're not used to sitting on the passenger side in the first place, and then, it's higher???? yeah, .... so I think with the tC seat lowered all the way, i'll be good to go as long as I can get the freakin thing mounted! lol.
