looking good, i like your gauges. I wish I had all that extra clearance that you have between the motor and radiator!

Thanks. I had to sacrifice some power to have that clearance lol. I haven't even cranked it yet and there's time I wish i would have stuck a v8 in there lol

Well this happened yesterday....

Excuse the funny vibration noise. That's the camera shaking on the battery. The only issue I had during startup was the starter that came on the engine apparently went bad while sitting up lol.

Now its time to loom the harness, and get to work on getting this thing drivable.

Well Im getting a random misfire code. So I checked the headers with a temp gun and the #3 is a lot colder than the rest. I pulled the plug and it don't seem to be getting fuel. After doing a little research and looking at things on the truck, Im starting to think the spider injection system is having issues. I need to do a little more reading on how to exactly determine if that's the cause tho. If it is, then Im going to keep working on getting it drivable then I will change the injection system.

Could you try swapping that injector with a different one? I'm not to familiar with the spider system.

You cant swap the injectors on these systems. Im starting to think I have a bad fuel pressure regulator and a clogged poppet. The poppet is what actually feeds the fuel into the intake. I could change both parts, but for a little more money, I can upgrade to a better injection system that puts the individual injectors at the intake. Its kind of hard to explain if you have never seen it tho.

Well I managed to pull the wiring harness out and get the braided loom mostly installed. I need to pick up some more tape to finish it up.

I ordered the majority of the parts to do the rear disk swap. Brakes will probably be the next thing I tackle.

Well I finished up the harness and installed it back in the 4runner. I decided to fire it up again to see if I could figure out what was wrong with my new oil pressure gauge. After it started, I noticed it seemed to be running a lot smoother than before. I check all the header tubes with a heat gun and sure enough, it was firing on all cylinders. Im not sure what the problem was before, but as of now its gone. Hopefully it doesn't come back.

Now its time to get this rear axle setup and the brakes installed. Maybe Ill be able to drive it around the yard in a few weeks.

That's strange about it missing and now it doesn't. Think it was a loose connection in the harness or something? Glad it's running good though

I don't think it was a loose connection. I still think it was from the fuel system. I just hope it doesn't come back lol.

I made some rough templates (gonna tweak them a little when I cut them out) for the rear disk brake conversion. There needs to be an offset so I will weld the two piece together. I'm going to try to get them cut out tomorrow.

And then my hood pins came in today. I'm pretty excited about these for some reason.

^X2, the wire loom turned out really nice!

I like the security cable that came with your hood pins so that somebody can't jack them...wish mine would have came with those!

Thanks. I'm guessing you mean the loom itself and not the job I did putting it on lol. That was my first time looming a complete harness. It wasn't too bad but I think I probably could do it a little better next time.

Thanks. Yea I like the cable too. I think it would be easy to add tho. I dont think it will stop kids from pulling the pins off but hopefully they don't cut or try to jerk them off lol. I'll still keep a few spares handy lol

I cut out the rear disk brake brackets out of 1/4" plate. That didn't provide enough offset to center up the calipers without shimming, so I will be cutting some of the brackets out of 3/8". That should eliminate any need to shim. Hopefully get those cut out today and start mocking them back up for welding.

My buddy took this little video to record the sound. Not too bad for a v6.

Quick update.... I got most of the brakes installed. Just need to install the right rear caliper, tighten a few of the brake lines down, and then bleed them. Ill still have some support brakes to build, but that's no biggie.

Heres the test fit of the passenger side caliper after welding the bracket up.

And heres the proportioning valve for the rear brakes.

I had to make a total of 13 inverted flares for the brake lines. Never done it before, so I sure hope they all hold up lol.

My plan is to have the brakes finished and the rear locker and 3rd member installed by the end of the weekend, and hopefully get my rear driveshaft build next week. Then I will finally be able to test out my transmission rebuild lol.

I finished up the brake install and bled them last week. When I tested the brakes with the engine running, I noticed a few leaks. I tightened them all up but one and they stopped leaking. The one I didn't tighten was up next to the gas tank where I installed a union. So I dropped the gas tank yesterday and was able to tighten the side that was leaking. Hopefully that cures all my leaks. Ill rebleed this evening and try again.

I also pulled my factory 4.88 third member out of the bucket that it was shipped to me in. I wont go into much detail as I haven't heard back from the guy I bought it from, but it didn't quite look like the pics I received. So I ordered a bearing kit for it and will be rebuilding it before I install it. A little set back, but it happens.

Im still hoping to build my rear driveshaft this week sometime. I am sleeving a factory front driveshaft out of an 84 with 2.5" sch 40 pipe. It will just be a spare/trail shaft, but it will get me by until I have a good one built. If all goes good, I should be able to move it around under its own power sometime this weekend.

I also started the tear down of the rear third member. Didn't get too far but it's a start.
