Yup. The computer needs the signal to shift the transmission. My VSS is in the AA adapter on the 4l60e.

Yeah the adapter is pretty nice, but its one of the downfalls to having a newer transmission. You need 2 adapters to get to the toy tcase lol.

Well we finally had some decent weather here so I finished welding up the headers and put some paint on them. I used rustoleum header paint. Hopefully it holds up decently.

I also got the sending unit installed for the new oil pressure gauge. I had to do some plumbing to get it to clear the header. I think it turned out okay. It needs some touch up paint.

Ive worked on a few other small things but I haven't made a lot of progress. Hopefully that will change before long

Well Ive decided to hire two mechanics to finish the project for me. Im tired of not being able to drive it. They cut me a pretty good deal tho. They are asking to be paid in candy...

In all seriousness, I let the older one change the spark plugs yesterday. He's been wanting to help so I found something for him to do that was actually constructive. And the younger one found it necessary to "reorganize" the shop lol.

That's good that you found them something constructive to do. My youngest likes to walk off with my tools, then I spend half my time looking for them, lol.

Definitely built into them. They like to grab whatever they can and take off. My youngest really likes to walk off with bolts lol

Well I finally took the time and welded up the front spring hanger. And I also did a little painting. Ready to start bolting stuff on for good.

Not since I bought the donor truck (and that was only about a 5 second test). I only have a few more things I need to finish up before I can test fire it. Then I'll pull the harness back out to tape/loom it.

Im ready to hear it run. I figure that will be good motivation to get it drivable lol.

A few more updates...

I picked up a longer radiator hose for the bottom and it seems like its going to work. The real test will be when I actually get to drive it. Hopefully it doesn't kink after getting hot.

I got the transmission cooler installed.

Heres where I tied the new rubber hose for the trans cooler into the factory hard lines

I also the radiator fan shroud built and installed (this is a mock up picture tho)

I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how I wanted to do the shroud, until a buddy showed me his on his buggy. Its a simple design. The frame is 3/4" thin wall square tubing with a sheet of aluminum covering it. It has a layer of weatherstrip foam to keep the square tubing from rubbing the radiator core.

I also installed the headers, did a little welding on the exhaust, wired in the OBDii port and the torque convertor relay. Im getting pretty close to running out of things to do before I fire this thing up. Unfortunately things are about to get really busy for me until the middle of march, so I probably wont make too good of progress until then.

It's looking good! Man, you're getting so close, i bet your getting anxious to get her finished up! I wish I had as much room as you do with the radiator installed!

Thanks. Im getting pretty anxious, but at the same time it just feels good to finally install stuff permanently. Yeah I have a little bit of room up there. I offset my fan to the top of the radiator to avoid any clearance issues, but I think it would fit wherever. It would just be tight. Im hoping Im content with the power of the V6. Ill have to get creative to keep the AC if I go to a V8 lol.

Unfortunately no. I haven't had any free time and likely won't for a couple more weeks. I'm ready to get back on it

Thanks. Im ready for this shutdown at work to be over so I can get it running and driving. I wouldn't mind the shutdown too much if I wasn't salary tho. I could use the OT for more parts for the 4runner lol.

I finally made a little progress today. I build a panel for my new gauges. I'm still waiting for my trans temp gauge to come in, it's backordered. I won't be using a stereo head unit, just an amp and my phone or iPod.

I also finished up the install on my steering cooler and the high pressure lines. I just bought a new GM hose and flared the toyota fitting on it.

I also pulled the gas tank again to redo part of the rear brake lines. I got that fixed and the tank back in. I also installed the 02 bung on the passenger side exhaust. I'm hoping to have it running by Easter weekend.
