Thanks. I'm going to take the bed off, cut it all up, and weld it back together. And while the bed is off the frame. I think I will clean up and paint the frames as well. It will be less work than the frame repair I had to do to the 87. Trying to think for the long haul.

Definitely clean up the frame, i wish i could afford the down time to take my bed off and clean and paint the frame and bed underside.
How many inches are you planning to take out?

10 to 12 inches. The rust on the bedside will determine how much I take out.

My wife just told me that she was scared for my truck because of how much cutting I have done today. Guess that means I'm doing something right. Lol

I will load some pictures in a bit. I took 2 n half inches out of all four wheel wells. Cut the bottom of the bed off behind the wheel wells. And I'm getting ready to do the final cuts for the bob right now. 12. Inches are coming out. Got a friend coming over for the weld up too.

Your cutting the wheel well? If i might ask, why? Won't that necessitate a higher lift for large tires?

I had rust holes in 3 of the wheel wells. And the 33s definitely won't rub now. Lol. Probably could fit 35s now. Lol

Okay, so thats the clearance you have with 33"s right?(you can just see the fender edges in the pic). 35"s would fit yes, but you couldn't hit a mole hill let alone flex. Atleast from what i can see, but you know your truck and i'm sure it will turn out awesome whatever you do.

That picture is the rims I cleaned up to put my truck. The truck on the picture is my old 87. Those tires are 31s.

Well I have a lot done. But a lot more to go. All of the fenders have been trimmed 2 n half inches. I cut 2 inches off then " rolled" the last half inch. I cut 12 inches out of the bed and it's welded back together. A friend of mine came to help with the welding duties. We also scrubbed the frame down and painted it with bed liner. Tomorrow I will grind down the welds, put on some bondo and reassemble the truck. I will also cut and patch the 2 big holes that are in the bed. If I have time, I will apply a layer of bed liner to the bed to help preserve the bed for the long term. Lots to do!

I like it. Make sure to put paint or something onany part you cut or trimmed. And your gonna need to test fit some 35s now.

Ya thanks for the reminder. I have some primer to apply on all parts that I cut. I'm going to enjoy the 33s for a bit before I go looking for a set of 35s.

Ah, okay, that makes more sense. Looks pretty good.
I realized where i was misunderstanding you, i read bob and 2 inches out of fenderwells. I thought you were narrowing not extending... derp.
What you did looks solid, how did you roll the edge?

I still have to do the bed liner and sand down the bondo. But for now I am done. I am exhausted. I will try to finish it up by next weekend
