Hey Roni, do you notice more road noise after tearing out the carpet in the cargo bay? I do, any ideas on how to make that better?

I want to rip out all the carpet but really don't want the extra noise........

Muskeg bog mud smells like pooh, literally. It takes months after wheeling season for the smell to go away.

I'll have to look into that cause that third member needs to go. That's an awesome start to a cool project for sure. BTW I forgot to say.... NO fart can going on pickup lol

Yes there is a huge difference in cab noise when you remove the carpet. I even removed the sound deadening material under the carpet! lol I will admit it gets annoying. But then again I rarely use ac which means all my windows are down and with 33" mud terrains cab noise really makes no difference

So....made a huge discovery at the junkyard last week!! Removed this w56 transmission with transfer case from a first gen 4Runner and we stuffed it in the back of another truck....covered it up with blankets, locked the doors and hoped it was there today for the black friday 50% off deal....and guess what.....IT WAS STILL THERE! Went over there at opening time grabbed a cart loaded it and was out of there in 15 min. The best part??? I paid 75$ for tranny WITH Tcase! Gonna throw the transmission in the 4Runner and use the Tcase for a doubler in TRDevelopment's 1st gen.

I LOVE JUNKYARDS

All I did was order new gaskets from WabFab and throw them on. If you want after that you can swap the ADD shaft with the non-ADD shaft that way you get rid of the UN-needed vacuum crap.

Sorry about the late reply but 9594runners had it right anyway. Also I'm sure it's posted in my thread somewhere just not sure what page?? Good luck.

Hey Roni- I read up some more on your 94' BT. I think (and this is just my opinion here) if you had "all" chrome wheels you'd like the look better. The red seem's to set it off in a different direction and doesn't tie the whole astheticly pleasing to the eye look...you know, how it just carries over and flows with the whole look. I'd say, at least they're not black stock 5-lugger plain jane wheels. However, if I'd have had silver paint, they wouldn't have stayed black much longer. I really like what you're doing with it, these types of boards are amazing for getting great ideas and....taking something that just needs some TLC, fixing mistakes/ neglect from the PO. Reminds me of something I'd do...get it cheap, make it better, use it and then turn around and sell for a profit. Though the sell it part might be a little longer than mine was. Sorry for not posting in the other forum...didn't want to go through and register...damn I'm lazy sometimes. Oh and DUDE, you gotta PM me or text me where this JY is...I'm jones n' for a JY raid too.

Eh I don't expect you to go create an account just to post in the build thread. Thanks for showing an interest in it Ted. I like to hear people's opinions on anything I do in my builds and I know you don't mind sharing your honest opinion DUDE funny you say that because I would've loved to have those plain jane black doughnut looking rims instead of these hahahahaaa. Trust me chrome wheels would not change my outlook on chrome. Just not a fan at all....I de-chromed the runner and had the exact same vision when I bought the PU. I'm not gonna lie sometimes getting rid of chrome with a rattle can black can look cheesy but I'm doing my best to make it look fairly stock. Can't wait for the rest of my goodies!

PM being sent.....

NICE FIND! I really have to do that... BUT, .....I've obviously been a lil busy, lol. All that aside, I'm now a lil freed up to try and get back to working on her... SO, you've inspired me, getting over a cold or not, to get down to PYP and see if this 87 PU has a trans in it or not. (USUALLY NOT, in L.A..... those and the rear gears are the first to go )

Keep up the great work, in the rig and in the fields of decimated wilderness, thanks to MORONS who weren't raised right, ya feel me? You're a good dude, Roni... Hope you and the lady and fam are all well

Picked up this Exedy clutch kit from CL. Brand new. Think I will be doing the head gasket on the Subaru before this but I got what I need.

Thanks Chooch!

Like I said....Subaru head gaskets before 4runner transmission. What a journey it has been with this Subaru. The 4runner thread will pretty much be at a stand still while the Legacy thread comes back to life.lol

Couple of junkyard finds last weekend. Went looking for a Subaru Legacy found nothing but 4Runners and Pickups....I wasn't complaining

First found a replacement "clutch cancel" button cause my current one is kinda peeling off. It's off of an older model but it looks and works great.
PICS
You can kinda see how it was peeling off...I've glued it back together before but still doesn't look right.

Next was found in a 90's Ford Torres...Toures?..Taures?...ah who cares it's a ford you get the point....It's a single den cup holder and coin holder. I will replace the empty bay single den under the stereo with this.

More pics once installed. Got a whole bunches of other goodies....just not for this build

Legacy is getting closer and closer every day. So its almost Transmission time!

Okay so that coin/cup holder is badass. I'll be keeping an eye out for one of those.

Nice find bro!

Bey Roni!!! If you guys can keep your eyes peeled for a third member for that axle housing, that'd be sweet?!? I don't need the harness just the third with working motor. Figure I'll give you all a little bit on top of what you pay for it as a finders/ transporting/ helping a fella out fee...how's that sound? And dude! That was a nice long drive to your end of the valley... Anyhow, let me know if this is good for you or not...can't hardly get out of the house with the new baby and all.

Nice to see some updates. Even little ones.

I think instead of getting that whole spot filled I might get one of those slide out screens. I want to put a nice system in which I can use to control sat radio and maybe a reverse camera. Once I hang a tire back there I'd like to be able to see if any little kids get in the blind spot.

Nice progress on the Subie, hope you can get it going pretty soon. Good your girl's into it, too. I had to almost tell my girl to leave car stuff to me and I'll leave animal stuff to her(she's a vet tech) when she didn't want me to pick up an '01 Forester with bad head gaskets for $1000. Even after I sold the '83 Pickup for $1900! Had to promise her it wasn't gonna become a project, though(Shh, don't tell her I got lowering springs).

Can't wait to see your Runner up and wheeling again!

I agree...it is nice to do something on the runner...even small things.

I knowcwhat kinda pop out screen your talking about. Personally im not a fan of pop outs just cause they tend to be in the way sometimes. Maybe sonething more like a double din with stationary screen. I been eye balling an alpine like this but its $$$! One going for 600 used on CL but still to pricey for me.

Don't have many pics, just been driving it, mostly. I'm lucky that the head gasket on the 01-02 ej25 is an external oil leak, and when it gets real bad it leaks coolant out the driver side head. But still just external, not into the cylinders! So I'm driving it until then, or I have the overtime and $ to get the gaskets and some little stuff.

When I first picked it up

It is parked uphill, but it still sits lower in the rear, unfortunately. Supposedly wrx wagon springs prevent this, and that's what the guy said they are, but I have my doubts. I'm not going all out STI like yours, but as it sits now I haven't been able to squeal the tires, even yarding the steering wheel all the way to lock while going 20 mph.

Dude that's a steal! You are correct about the external leaks...I bet it will last a long while. Can't wait to see how mine will handle!

UPDATE

Another trip to the yards found me a new 2nd gen. safety cancel button in perfect condition so now I go back to second gen. button. lol

So the cupholder has been installed! A little bit more work then I had planned but still went thru with it and I'm glad I did because it looks and works great.
Here is a before shot...as you can see just an empty bay with my squash air freshener.

I'm happy with the install. Looks stock...works good and keeps my change quiet and still.

On another note. I was lookin at my rear window motor the other day and realized how ugly the plastic cover was. All torn and taped in random areas. Decided to change it out using plastic sheet from work and some rtv

It will keep it dust free for sure.
