I've seen this done before. I saw a few interesting ideas in the camping section of YT I believe. I know a few companies like ARB sell some really cool organizers to.

I don't see it taking more than 2 weeks or so if that's a time frame that your comfortable with. I know those lights are hella expensive but IIRC we may have a set of PIAA's we use to mock up during fab projects. I'll ask Brandon and check specs against the ones you linked to. Anyhow, can't wait to get started on my lagging partial cage project now that the weathers finally cooling down.

BTW, I read up on your Suby project...I was wondering where all your money was going? It's nice though..even caused me to search CL for a possible project to. But alas, no money= no project. Damn!
Yeah I read in your thread about the new location congrats on the baño!

I'm in no rush at all on the lights man my main concerns right now are Legacy head gaskets and the 4Runner transmission. With that being said....I'm interested .... A set of 2 or set of 4? Keep me updated on that for sure...appreciate it Ted.

It would be cool to see a mock up pic. of what exactly your cage will look like.

Hey thanks man I've worked really hard on that car. Right now I'm just a tad dissapointed with the project seeing as it's not being driven right now. I can't wait to get it at the DD level so I can get rid of that Corolla. Looking to FINALLY get that 2wd PU after selling the corolla. I'm hoping for a cheap 2wd so I can use money from the Corolla towards transmission for the runner. I'm slackin on the head gaskets but I'm heading over to D's today to discuss price on all the gaskets needed.

Yeah, those HG's on turbo'd cars seem to go out more often. Maybe it's because of the cylinder pressure they're asked to contain? Either way, I've never owned a FI (forced induction) vehicle before..but I have driven em' and they are a blast compared to the NA ones. I guess I've always seen em as a reliability issue. If you think about it, during the honeymoon stage, you're gonna wanna rip through the powerband and gears just to see what she's got....then you're gonna want more! And then there goes more money and a decrease in the reliability factor...at least that's how it'd be with me...so no turbo/ supercharger for this guy. But I hear the SC on the 3.4L is pretty cool....

Roni, I think I'd like to tackle building a storage area myself. Might be cheaper and it will be exactly what I want for my needs. I'll research ones you can buy though to steal ideas!

Lot's of work to do this weekend. Saving for that Blazeland LT kit now too.

I'll be documenting stripping my parts 4Runner to get at the frame too. Building from the ground up should be interesting. I hope the 2nd Gen 22RE frame is the same as the 3.0 other than engine mounts of course.

I concur!...They are fun and this is a reliability factor for sure! But my legacy has the NA version of the EJ25 I was thinking about doing the turbo but to be honest I like the fact that it's NA...I just hate the fact that it's automatic (for now) Doesn't mean it's not fun though...it's still an AWD Subaru and it will soon have an STI steering rack meaning even tighter steering ratio.

Psh compared to my 22RE the 3.4 alone feels impressive!(to be honest even the 3.slow is fast to me LOL) I can only Imagine how much fun Punkelburg has in his SC rig!

That's cool man. Here is a pic of the mount. I got it for about 8 bucks at a CB shop I believe. The buttons on the steering wheel are for the cruise control settings. The words are all worn off but I know what they are anyway ...I use it everyday!

One of the mounting screw's head sheared off during install...hasn't caused any issues.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Went to the junkyard over the weekend. Not much luck, all I got was the corner plastic molding, body mount bolt cover, and a rubber grommet I was missing in the cargo area.

I've never done this much "ghetto fabricating" to my truck before...I'm not proud of it...but it will suffice for now.

So this was the problem. A huge hole created by water sitting in between the plastic molding and the body.

This is the junkyard find. I was lucky to find a black one...didn't realize how many of these are painted the color of the body.

Brought it back to life with a good cleaning.

To hold it in place I used that hole...

To mount this bracket.

I masked the area off and sprayed some rubber sealant in an effort to stop (slow down) the rust that's slowly eating my truck!

It may be ghetto....but I can tell you this...IT'S NOT FALLING OF ANYMORE thats for sure! That thing is ON THERE.

Far from perfect but it holds strong.

Here's a shot of the mess left behind. There was about 10 times as much the first day the molding was off!!

Here is the body mount bolt covers and grommets I found. Only needed one of each so now I have a few extras. My old one on the left.

Let me know what you guys think of my ugly fabricating hahahahahahaaaaaa

Holy goly gee wilickers Roni- You're gonna love flogging that thing around town. The diff ratio IIRC should be a 4.10. If it's a 5 lugger as I'm assuming it is, that's what it should be. Nice find...please oh please don't put a FART can on it.

Yea i love it man. It is a 5 lug....this means I can use a stock 4x4 diff. Correct? That would make things easy. Thsnks for the info Ted. Not as nice and modern as your old green one but i still love it!

Crud...I'm not exactly sure. Some (4Runners) were 5-lug but I think mine is a 6 lug. Yeah the 96' is still going strong and getting worked on slowly. The kid, I guess you could call him my nephew, is using it to get some experience working on cars. I get to see it transform with every visit so it's kinda cool...at least it went to a good home.
