Haha, ya I hear you, skinned a knuckle today so I can't say I was thinking about gloves at that moment.
Been fighting with the crossover elimination mod for a few days. I hope to have it up on my build thread tomorrow so I don't hijack yours, but it has been one thing after the other. Hoping for good results.
I like where your bumper is going, very sharp design. It sure does suck not having all the right tools for the job! At least you were able to find a plasma cutter, wish I had that luxury. are you going to install any backup lights or d rings on the bumper? Just curious what other plans you have for it.

Those are great lights, have heard good things. Stay away from the Chinese stuff, heard moisture tends to get inside the lens.
Those welds are WAY better than mine lol. I wouldn't worry about them one bit.
Looks great man, and the plans even better. Keep it up!

Unfortunately the price is almost double on the website so I will stick with the amazon ad.
Also the bumper is going to drive me crazy my dad and I staired at it for 30 minutes wondering how heat could warp 1/4 that easy and that much

so i got home today and.....

a hypertherm powermax 30!!
had to get it broke in...
so i got the bent pieces cut and rebent? to NOT square to line back up and match the other side.

so you can not see it but starting at the arrow going to the tip it bends down about an inch and sense that side is all welded up the only way i could think of is bending the other side and welding shorter lengths and cool in between to minimize warping
so i like the plasma cutter a lot and it make quick work of fixing and placing this piece to where it should be. now i got some tacking of other pieces on and them a LOT of welding
im getting excited though
, its looking cool

Starting to come together well! You would never think that quarter inch plate would warp like that, but it does. When working on the farm, my dad and I were building a trailer, and we warped 8 inch I beam. Crazy!
Yep, take shorter intervals and lots of clamps and all should be well.

yah its funny how metal can be so ridged but add heat and it warps like playdough.
so it will be a lot of measuring and guess and check on the rest.
if only i could just throw water on it

just a little up date on how the bumper is going. i love the plasma cutter it made quick work of cutting the side apart and then after some persuasion with a big hammer i got the same bend in the bottom plate that was so easily obtained on the other side from some heat
. any ways the plasma cutter came in handy again fitting the pieces back together. i got the side re tacked back together and got it squared back with the other side. it matches really nicely so if i can learn some patience i will let the welds cool and get the rest welded up

oh and my brother likes the plasma.

oh and i got the lights ordered they are the same as above just a four pack. and i got the clevis mounts ordered as well i got these http://www.comp4x4.com/Weld-Thru-Cle...ts-D-Ring.html
i like them because of the angles and not being round i think it will look better on the bumper. I am trying to find which switch to get know for the bumper and i will have to see where i mount the other two lights before i order from otrattw http://www.otrattw.com/products.php?cat=14 .
they have fj cruiser rear bumper lights switches but i cant find any that i like so i will have to see if i can get a blank switch body and see about engraving it on the lazer at school

My dad grabbed a set of lights that are super bright. They are wide beam halogens. I have an extra on this,
Btw that's me on it. I turn sixteen soon, so a real bike is nearing closer to being mine.
