Sadly it just sits there, same as mine. Too dang cold to do anything productive, garage or not.

Plans are to get mine together and running and sell the 1996 Cadillac I've been driving around in and use the money to do the engine on the 4runner.

Baby steps.

The 4runner came together alot bettr than I could have imagined doing it as an amateur. It runs / drives / feels great. Has the obligatory oil leakage at the valve covers so we have no run it more than 10 miles total since we got it in April 2009...sad as that is, it's because I'm afraid of an engine fire until I can dig into it and do the work.

This engine build will be mostly him with me standing by. I will help but he will be the primary and YOTATECH will be the valuable resource...as it has been for me.

Spring will bring a stereo install to complete that part of the re-do and then just needs little tweaks here and there but will be complete.

watchng CAMO10.50's thread for a rebuild of the 3vze and LUMPY has his to do yet so the ever intimidating engine will be dug into soon enough.

Your making me jealous! Cleaning the seats, all the paiting, washing the cargo carpet, the SPEAKERS!! They are all great ideas and so easy to do. Seeing what the final products look like are really giving me inspiration. Definately steeling the the speaker idea; never would have thought of that or known how great it could look. Keep up the good work!

well, this vehicle has been on the back burner for quite some time, much to the dismay of my son.

i've read, and searched, and seen much talk about a Special Service Campaign that had been in effect regarding the head gaskets on this motor (3vze)......so i just placed a call to the local dealer and they will research this for me.

the pessimist / realist i am, i fully expect a disappointment here. i went to toyota.com/recalls as i read i should on the sticky thread regarding this and it said there were no open bulletins on this vehicle when i ran the VIN....so disappointed already, but hoping the dealer can provide me with a positive answer or an answer as to when and by whom the service was provided.....

since we've only owned this thing for just over a year and have put a whopping 10 miles on it, i think it's time to start on it again.

yes, Joe......it's time.

oh yeah...i see i killed the pics.......grrrrrrrrrrrr

well....as i guessed....big fat NO.

but i'm not exactly satisfied, because i would like someone to tell me when this was actually performed....if at all.

and sooo... i called a 2nd dealer... "this VIN was not included in the campaign"....so that's a more complete answer than the one i got from the 1st dealer.....but still a complete disappointment.
