if he's gonna go with an MLS gasket, he would have to have the block and heads machined for them the correct way, and no one around here that I know of does it.

From: Bryan Tx,
So you are pulling it this time, good call Jerry. I've pulled one 3.0 v-6 before & don't remember it being so bad.

yeh...so far, nothing has been bad with it.....although i only have the plenum / power steering and plastic timing belt cover off.....plugs out......but it's so tight in there, to clean it up right would be ridiculously stupidly difficult.

so we will do this once, do it right, no regrets.

Can you make some of it easier by going in through the front(radiator removed) and sides(fender skirts removed)??? Just asking, have no idea about this motor, hahaha.

Watching!

yeah....i've been haunting the listings.

i'm going to call the same place i rented the bulldozer from for the pool to see if they rent a puller. although it would be nice to have one at my disposal, kinda unnecessary....unless renting is not much less than buying.

lots to do today....usually 1st day off is busiest ***especially when wife is home too*** so not sure if we are going to do anything "I" want to do today....grrrrrrrr.

Since its not your only set of wheels, you can take your time and get it right. That makes mechanicing alot more enjoyable. I seen you done some body work also. Joes getting to learn alot at a young age. Sure wish my dad would of showed me bodywork. Until the past 2 years I finally got brave enough to do it. I actually enjoy it. Its like anything else. Just got to jump in and do it. We will cheer you on.

thanks man.

as evidenced by my own build thread (thread A), i was a nervous wreck doing my truck but then it became easier and easier and less and less intimidating.

just like with anything.....you can be intimidated by the WHOLE, but when you dissect it into it's individual parts, you begin to understand and become less apprehensive.

likewise, we now have a HOBBY......seriously, something i NEVER had.

trying to keep his interior looking "crisp" and clean......although this will be kept whatever color it comes as (Joe's demand) we will make sure to keep everything tidy looking inside the 4runner.

going to a big outdoor flea market / farmer's market (Hometown...XXXTREME)....to get some plants, going to keep our eyes open for any additional scores.

Hop Bottom, PA? Hmmmmm, ....nevermind, lol.

GREAT SCORE, Jerry, Joe! Joe, ....sure you don't want that can black or gray to match the interior? hahaha, jk. He knows what he wants, I'm sure. Why so tall, Jerry? So that the arm can rest on it easier or for more storage? OR BOTH? LOL.
