actually i don't.

actually, i would like to put a 22re in it......it's a motor i know i can work on and one that i would like to assemble from the ground up.

1st thing is 1st......got disappointed, but not surprised, by the answer about the motor.

next up will be to sell the Cadillac and amass some parts with the MONEY and move forward with this....to think that I / we want to actually make the engine smaller to consider it an improvement is kinda hysterical to me......and i'm not sure anyone has done that.....but i have a pristine example of a good running engine to use as a reference point.

this is gonna be good........

LOL, not crazy just my .02, the 22re is a far better motor than the 3.0.

The best path for this is to get a parts truck and take everything off it you need. Be sure you get a manual tranny as well and do that swap too. Get rid of the slushbox.

So in the parts truck it really doesn't matter if its a runner or a pickup either. You'll have the wiring harness, ECU, Tranny, T-case, clutch pedals, and all the garb you need for much cheaper than getting all the parts separate. I got mine for $200.00 with the 3.0 so I can do my 5spd swap someday.

Doesn't matter if it runs either, you know how to rebuild it...

tonight...i promise i will. i don't want to try to fix everything Joe had posted, so i may just post it myself....there will be plenty-o-pics.

as far as any progress on his truck....have to finish getting mine in shape for the East Coast 4Runner Jamboree in 2 weeks first, then sell the Cadillac, then buy stuff.........

well kids.....

moved the vehicles around and now Joe's truck is in the work area.....have really been kinda prepping the garage for the long-awaited rebuild of his motor.

truck does not start....no power from the battery....battery fully charged......have to figure this out.

on with the pics.....

proud owner

1st problem i saw was a decapitated wire...had to try to figure where this came from

apparent previous patch job

looks like it goes here...

so then i prettied it all back up

but still no spark...no horn...no even a sizzle when i was putting the cables back on.....so i started thinking about the ground wire.......traced it all the way to where it connects to the block behind the a/c compressor and found this....

whether or not this is the actual problem is unknown, but this needs to be taken care of

so....just some reference shots right now

have to make a plan....my 1st would be to figure out the electrical gremlin.

we are happy to just have it in the better parking spot right now......time to do some reading.

i don't think this will take 8 months to do.......i think i really want to pull the motor as doing mine inside the engine bay was such a PITA! and i think it would be much easier.

never pulled a motor before, so this will be a 1st.

stay tuned

Hey Jerry,

I'm watchin, ...Just curious why I can't see most of the pics. I can see your wiring extravaganza pics, hehehe, but no pics of the speakers? What I did with my 6x9's was put them in boxes with 5feet extra of monster cable....this way I can place them on the roof when I go camping, etc. I've seen Jeeps with 6x9's mounted on the roll bar, but I can't see the pics of Joe's, so just curious what they look like.

REALLY COOL he's building his first rig! My daughters helped me alot...they loved the white one as well as this one, and they were great tool hands and even pulled the tires a couple times! lol.

Wishin you well, Joe, ....TEAR IT UP YOUNG MAN!

well Chef....it goes like this.....one day in a fit of OCD versus ADD....i decided to rearrange all my photobucket photos so they were easier for me to find stuff.

don't do that.

it breaks all the links to any photos you have already posted.....thus making them worthless

saw an engine stand on sale at harbor freight this week. Just saying.

And mine ended up being the valve seat popped out in the 5 cylinder (PO must have overheated it at some point) Crushed the valve and I lost all compression in number 5. I could have got away with new heads and throwing it back together, but I opted to get the lower end overhauled. Ran great when I was done, even after it was stolen and returned and the harness was hacked, I was able to match up wires and fire it up.
