Congrats on the article, will have to grab one.
I would love to do a DEQ passing conversion on the 94 someday.

My work schedule just changed. One I get settled in i'll give you a shout to see about checking out the new place and drool over the RHD.
Have you started the registration process yet?

Sounds like a plan. I haven't started yet. I am waiting for 2 forms from my importer to arrive in the mail. He mailed them last week so they should be here any day. Then it's off to DMV to get it registered. Hope that goes smoothly....

Ok,

So update from my trip to DMV........

First guy I talk to is stoked to come out and do the vin inspection. He is drooling over the whole rig. He says everything looks great.

We walk back into the office and he pulls plates down and stickers and makes photo copies of my papers. He says the total amount due is X number of dollars and we are good to go. As I am pulling the cash out of my wallet a disgruntled I hate my life and will make all others hate their lives as well quality member of DMV walks over from their booth...... says to the guy I am working with that he can't issue plates!!!! Your making this too easy. That rig needs to have a background inspection and we will notify him if we decide to issue plates in 6 to 8 weeks. So the guy I have been talking too says sorry I guess I can only give you a temporary plate for now and send all this information into the state police to do a check to make sure it is all legal to have and that it isn't stolen!!!!!!......

LOL stolen, that's rich. I had it inspected in Australia to verify with the Aussie government that is wasn't stolen prior to having to pay to get it aboard the ship. I then have to pay the Feds on this side to determine that it is in fact 25 years old so it can be legally imported into the united states and they have to do a bolo request that it isn't stolen. What the heck. They think I stole it and drove it to another place. LOL Aussie is an island it isn't like I stole it and drove it home..... LOL and oh by the way it was inspected on 3 other occasions to confirm it wasn't stolen and was legal to import.... Got to love government.....

So I wait!!!!!!

Still waiting!!!! DMV still waiting!!!!

On a side note, I picked up an elocker for the rear end of this thing. It has 4.30 gears in it. Trying to decide if I want to put 4.88 gears in it or not. I may just run the 4.30 gears in the Zrunner and put those 4.88 gears in the Lux. The 1uz would do better with shorter gears and the Lux could definitely use taller gears. I am just trying to figure out what I am going to do for the front diff. The Zrunner has an Elocker HP front diff. I am having a heck of a time finding another HP diff...... oh decisions......

I also had a good time removing a bunch of really bad wiring decisions the last Aussie owner had in regards to accessories. Also installed the speaker wires correctly thru the door rather then just behind the liner. While doing all that figured I should get all connections soldered and heat shrunk. Last guy used wire nuts and electrical tape...LOL

Finally got DMV organized. After several weeks I called and said uh my temp has expired and I still haven't gotten plates or a title what gives. I get transfered to a lady who says yeah I saw the paperwork come thru 6 weeks ago but didn't know what to do with it as I have't seen a request from a foreign vehicle before so I set it in my to get to pile. Whisky Tango Foxtrot.

She says sorry I will call policy tomorrow and see what needs to happen. She says I will call you tomorrow. At 7:46 the next morning she says it was approved and she would put plates in the mail that day. After 5 days I still didn't have plates. I call again and what I get is plates were really mailed the day before I called and sorry. I say so what am I supposed to do without a good temp. He says I can buy another temp. I get a whole lot o up in your face and want to talk to a supervisor. Supervisor come on the phone and says sorry, they will have a temp waiting at the closest DMV office free of charge I can use until my plates arrive. He says DMV posts plates 3rd class mail and it can take some time to get them. Grumpyyyyyy....

Plates finally arrived. Taking the Hilux to Arizona on Monday and was needing these!!! Finally....

Second hilux arrived on the 11th of March. I just got to pick it up today. Wasn't happy as someone stole a set of Euro tail lights and a pound of Belgium dark chocolate out of the truck during its trip. I also had to have the thing jump started as the idiots who parked it left the key in the on position and drained the battery... LOL it has been an interesting day today.

Here we are at the port this morning!!!!

Dang, talk about a DMV nightmare! Hope it goes smoothly for you on the next one! That sucks that they stole your belongings, but at least it arrived safe and sound. Look forward to seeing more pics of them!

Update on the 4runner. I just got a new 2.25" cross over built for the headers on the 1uz 4runner. I am getting ready to build the 3" single out exhaust now. I also am installing the A/C compressor so this thing will be cool this summer!!!! Pics soon

How tight is it replacing the crossover?
Not a lot of room to work I would imagine

I will take pics later this next week. It isn't bad. I have it tucked down and under the transfercase but above my belly skid. High and tight!

I have some bad cell phone pics of the exhaust system. I will get some more after this thing is on the lift again. I did remove the rear bumper and am starting a plate bumper. Thinking about incorporating a winch into the design.

If anyone has idea's feel free to chime in. This will be plate as I am not fond of open tube designs. This will be a North West Toy's, LLC design.

Just ran through your thread, what a build! I've ran across some of your (NWT) stuff before, very nice. Your build is way beyond where I want to be but the heart is definitely the same, funny thing is mine is also a 94 Green V6, I'll very likely be hitting you up for some motor mounts at the least. Thanks for pointing me to your thread.

Anytime. Traction control removal isn't complicated. I am happy to help you with what ever you need. We carry a full line of items to make this swap easier from bell housing to automatic transmission adaptors, to headers and wiring harness's. If you need parts or just have questions about what your doing and how it will work please feel free to ask.

I look forward to seeing your build progress!!!!
