i run them like that to take advantage of all the shock. they are less effective at crazy angles. i plan on doing a little prerunning with my Runner, so i figured it'd be a good idea to go this route. helps with stability too.

still waiting on some steel for the housing, so i tubbed the rear quarters today. been putting this off for too long anyways...

not sure what i want to do about the upper part. i could weld it, but it'd probably discolor the paint around it... i can touch bare metal spots up no problem, but i'd like to stay away form the whole discoloration/burning thing. anyone have any suggestions?

Looking at this again, I am amazed.
You have 5" front springs with real shackles, right?
With as much axle wrap as I get up front, and my modest springs and shackles, I am worried about binding a dual case CV'd shaft.
I don't think you can put a CV on that though and still get enough travel. It is just too short.

Do what i did, use the birield out of axle of the old ifs setup.

been doing some little things on the truck lately... taking care of stuff i've been putting off for a while.
front bumper "rebuild"
redid front hanger straps
turndown on the muffler (used to shoot up)
blacked out taillights

haven't wheeled since Memorial Day... i doubt it'll be ready for wheeling this summer, but i'll be taking it to Hollister come fall. not sure if you'd be interested, but you're more than welcome to join us.
