that housing is looking bossy. what's the point in mounting the rear shocks in that fashion?

i run them like that to take advantage of all the shock. they are less effective at crazy angles. i plan on doing a little prerunning with my Runner, so i figured it'd be a good idea to go this route. helps with stability too.

updated housing pics:

Nice Mike!

I plan to put the rear shocks like that too. I like slow trails but also want to be able to go to the Sahara once a year hehe

still waiting on some steel for the housing, so i tubbed the rear quarters today. been putting this off for too long anyways...

before:

after:

not sure what i want to do about the upper part. i could weld it, but it'd probably discolor the paint around it... i can touch bare metal spots up no problem, but i'd like to stay away form the whole discoloration/burning thing. anyone have any suggestions?

I don't think you can put a CV on that though and still get enough travel. It is just too short.

Do what i did, use the birield out of axle of the old ifs setup.

heres a whole link that i stirred up over at pirates website:

Looking good dude. You been wheeling at all lately? When are you going be near Sac again?? It would be sweet to have both our rigs together on a trail somewhere.

VHT nite shades i think is the name of the stuff... it's actual taillight paint, so hopfully it holds up better than the red stuff i used before.

Mike, if you bend that think then think about getting Unimog or Rockwell axles!

The added axle weight will make your truck harder to roll hahaha

The axle looks good.

What about the knuckle balls? Did you gusset them as well?
