The sliders took forever to strip by hand. I will be employing a family friend's sand blaster when I do my front and rear bumper.

That is actually not a true representation of the final product. That is just the POR-15 only. I also put on a top coat that is a flatter black. I will take some pictures of the CB installed today.

In other news I picked up a Marlin high steer kit from a local dealer that had it on his shelf for months. I also placed a huge order with All-Pro over the holiday. In the next month or so I will have a complete over haul of suspension and steering.

That's awesome! Your 4runner has undergone a complete transformation since you first bought! You're going to love having high steer! What size AllPro lift did you go with? I've been really happy with my AllPro rear lift.

In an attempt to keep the frame as low as possible I went with 4" up front utilizing their new low profile hanger and 4" shackles this will actually sit like a 3" front spring. I then went with 4" in the rear.

Added a picture of the radio installed to the above post. It did require some filing however not very much. I just filed until it fit tight. Its not being held by anything other than the tight fit into the slot.

I love my 3RZ except for a small gremlin I have to sort out (hot soak issues that go away after driving a short distance). It is definitely thirsty in the city driving (16-18 mpg) but will go into the 20s when doing highway driving. The motor really shines when wheeling. I put her in 4 Low and just crawl through the trails with very little throttle needed. I usually just leave my foot resting on the pedal. The 3RZ really moves my truck when I need it to. Great acceleration for being a 4 banger and for how heavy my truck is getting with all the steel I have put on her. My Thorley header surely helps in that department of course.

Of course I've got your part number brother. I've got one better I've got the link to the place I got it and all. Which is 1/4 of the price the dealer would charge you.

Nice work on the CB install, it looks clean sitting under the stereo, like it was meant to go there from the factory!

Thanks man. I need to find a clearing to put a better tune on the antenna. I tuned it in the driveway of my father in law's place and it was surrounded by trees.

Well I was quite productive this weekend. Got quite a few things checked off my list that I have been procrastinating about.

17. Replace tired stock 22re radiator (All Aluminum Nippon)

Got the shroud and old radiator out.

SqWADoosh's 1985 Runner Build-f0f2yuv.jpg

I have to say the 3RZ has this amazing drain nipple for the block which made draining a breeze!

SqWADoosh's 1985 Runner Build-ooaq0cc.jpg

The new radiator had a bent mounting bracket that I had to take the vice grips to. Got it bent as straight as I could and the radiator mounted right up.

SqWADoosh's 1985 Runner Build-lkvga5b.jpg

18.Replace stock 3RZ thermostat with 180* (LCE sells it and its accompanying o-ring)

While I was in there I decided to upgrade the thermostat to the 180* one.

SqWADoosh's 1985 Runner Build-mgoelw1.jpg

Results after the new rad and thermostat. Block was at 198* before.

SqWADoosh's 1985 Runner Build-qmnglg9.jpg

21.Belts are squealing on acceleration (replace with Toyota bando belts sourced from dealer)

Did the belts since I had the rad out and they had been lightly squealing on acceleration.

SqWADoosh's 1985 Runner Build-u1pf6ca.jpg

22. Replace spark plugs and wires (
NGK wires NGK wires
&
Plugs Plugs
)

Did the plugs and wires I've had lying around since Christmas as well.

After:

That took up my Saturday. Sunday I had a range day.

My 229 hanging out with my father in law's M&Ps.

SqWADoosh's 1985 Runner Build-dsagixh.jpg

100 yds with red dot sight on my AR. Need some work.
