Nice build thread! Makes me want to get out an explore in the 4runner. Have only done parts of Ocotillo Wells so far. Have ridden Rodriguez on the dual sport, but don't remember the boulders; must have done the easy routes.

Suggested 2.25" all the way to the tail pipe at 2"

Runs great, louder then I would like it to be, its got a magnaflow muffler, seems like all the noise is coming from the engine bay.

Doesn't sound like there are any leaks, I am hoping that when I replace the air-induction parts, maybe some header wrap, it will quiet down. If not I will add some kind of under coating to the hood. I want this thing to be quiet, if I am going to daily drive it.

Drive to work was much quieter, comes off the line easier, no stumble of power and now its much more pleasant to drive... I'm happier

LC engineering Air induction tube adapters are on order so I can run the Air Induction system.

Looking forward to gears and locker.... sliders, bumpers.. then it will feel like capable rig I will be less worried to take on the trails..

U-joints bad.. surprisingly I didn't see many posts on here on how to replace them or which ones to get other other then OEM...

dealer is closed on sundays, I'll see what I can get from Napa and maybe order a OEM one from Trail Gear for a spare to keep in the rig.

 

I like the idea of the CRX temp switch. I was just looking at that block drain, thinking of a better use for the hole. Have you had any issues with the switch? If not, I think I'll do the same.

I have had no issues with the temp switch... well this one..

just find the standard brand short one..

I think the first one I had was longer and may have broke while installing.

Still going through your thread. Since your roll over til now it is looking great. Looks like you done a great job getting it back straight.

I have found that using an original Toyata Exhaust gasket works best for me. Even when putting on headers. I cant get a good seal using an off brand.

The helicoil. Been there and done that. Thats really the only draw back on these aluminum heads. It works out well though. Got to do it twice and never had any problems.

I was stationed in San Diego. How I miss it out there. I dont know where we went but there was some great places to go 4wheelin out there. Wasnt to far and we could see about the whole city.

I'll try the remflex gasket if it leaks again.. since I already bought it.. I am thinking a new street head will fix the exhuast stud issues..

There is a ton of good stuff near SD... snow, sand and rocks... love it here

 

Maybe with some steroids I could get my kid to catch up... mines 7 months behind yours..

 

I got the new pair valve in last week.. they sent the wrong one...
