You can't edit my email notification buddy. I saw you say you were going to try and make it with us in the fall... Why the change of comment? Not in the cards you think now?

cought red handed haha. I just hate flaking out... so i'd rather not get half committed to something. I'm in the middle of switching jobs so i don't know what my PTO situation will be like come fall, but believe me if i can make it i will!

almost done: new hub studs & wheel bearings. got the steering all dialed in. just need to finish a few odds and ends.
as peviusly posted, i did the FROR Taco brake conversion, and i'm running the larger style tundra brakes. here's a comparison of stock SA rotors and calipers vs. tundra:

I'm not too hard on brakes since i have the 5 speed but I figured since i hadn't dumped any money into my brake system yet, i might as well go for the best option out there. i've heard of people warping the taco rotors, so went straight to tundra. I'll be upgrading to a 1" bore master cylinder as well. hopping to test drive this thing tonight!

How much did you have to mill down the hub to do this?

I'm not sure, i ended up just buying some from FROR. he sells IFS hubs already turned down and i'm pressed for time on this project so i thought it was worth it.

So are you running Tundra calipers only? Or Tundra calipers and rotors?

DONE! I think the "bling" on these wheels might be too much for me, but we'll see if it grows on me. What do you guys think?

So what brand of caliper and rotor did you go with? Did you choose the "turned for tacoma rotors" when ordering the hubs from FROR? I was under the impression that the calipers had to be on the forward side of the knuckle and that the knuckles had to be swapped left and right?

Yea you have to swap the knuckles left to right so the ears don't interfere with the FROR taco brake kit. calipers are stock from ebay, rotors are brembo off amazon.

yep

The brakes feel awesome, pedal is very firm. haven't done a skid test yet but it feels like my rears still aren't doing much. I intended to pull the LSPV and put in a portioning valve but i didn't get to it.

There's 2 options, I opted for the larger 231mm brakes but the smaller ones clear better if your not running 17's. here's the write-up i used.

Thanks. I'm running 15s. I wonder if I will be able to use even the smaller version.

that was the biggest update on my truck to date and I get no love for it?!?
ok rant over.
Just got back from moab, should be posting up some pics soon. The trip didn't go well for me. I've always been a guy to do a proper shakedown run before a big trip, and the one time I don't I regret it! The truck didn't track well on the road at all, I think I need to get a proper alignment and replace all the bushings in the front end. Also, my t-case started sounding like marbles in 4lo so I parked it after the 1st day on the trail my trans has been whining for a couple trips now so its time to throw in a used trans and rebuild the t-case.
on a positive note, I love the tires!

Those wheels look good! It's never fun having a tranny/tcase problems on the trail.
I'm hoping I don't regret forgoing a shakedown run before running chinaman this weekend.

Somehow I didn't get the notification for that update. Or else I would have been here giving you the big . It looks great brother. I'm sorry to hear it didn't perform as well as it looks. I have a s-ton of extra All-Pro bushings left over from my suspension upgrade (they sent me like 2x more than was necessary). PM me your address brother and how many you need and I'll send them your way. These ones here are the ones I'm talking about: https://www.allprooffroad.com/8489suspension/277

I'm heart broken to hear that your Moab trip wasn't good. I suppose the only way to make up for it is to come out with us in September! Our plans have changed and we are now going to camp at the group campsite at the Big Bend BLM campsite right on the bank of the Colorado river.
