Jzoomers 84 5spd long bed build thread (caution slow progress ahead)

I have already begun part of my project I have almost completed the tear down at this point all I have left is to undo the cab mounts and lift the cab off of the frame so I can start grinding

Here she is the day I brought her home a running and driving 84' 5spd 4x4 lwb truck. Picked her up for $700 which is a good score around here in this shape especially with a 90% rust free frame!

I had her on jack stands for rear break work and that's when I looked her over and decided I like this one and really want to make her last so a complete rebuild was in order..
My Internet is being stupid so I'll post the teardown photos soon

After I pulled the motor and front end off
After i removed the dash and cut the rust out of the floor pans

Bed removal required a few cutoff wheels and a 2 sawzall blades but she finally gave in

This is my current parts cache, ive got alot of work ahead of me

Finally got the cab all disconnected, I didn't have any help to take the cab off but I did manage to get it to the very back of the frame all on my own, let's just say it wasn't fun or easy but it's got it out of the way enough so I can start removing things from the front end of the frame and get ready for pressure washing before grinding it down to bare metal, for a fresh undercoating :-)

Does anyone have any recommendations on a chemical product to remove old ancient undercoating from the frame? It just melts and smears when I attempted to grind an area

I'm going to say after work to pick up an oscillating tool from hft. I have heard good things about it being able to remove the undercoating, hopefully it goes well, having to work 80+ hrs a week really takes time away from the build. But eventually will mean more newer and better parts hopefully

Before trying put the oscillating scraper tool

Notice the big piles of material on the ground that came off the frame, that tool removed 80-90% of the undercoating! HfT ftw

Got the cab fully removed finally

Got the cab in its temporary resting place on the back patio so its out of the weather

Pulled the frame out to pressure wash with only 1/2 success, my prrssure washer was surging constantly and kept cutting out and would only get about 1/2 of its max pressure
