i always have to use a 19mm wrench to get the top two. Unless you have a body lift then youd probalbly have room to get some extensions and a wobble socket. I hope the cam makes a noticeable difference for you. Im probalbly gonna start taking my 85 apart so if you need anything let me know cause youve been more than generous helping me with my runner buddy!!

Thanks buddy. I appreciate all the help you have given me with my runner. I'm excited to get the new engine in and see the power difference.
I got the top two bolts out today. The passenger side came out alright, it's always the drivers side that is a pain and I end up using a mile of extensions. Haha.
I'm goin to try and get it out tomorrow morning.
We need to go get crab legs!!!!!!!!

I like electric windows but is one more thing that would go bad for me. Have you tried some silicone for the window tracks? It will reduce the friction on the glass and works great on manual or electric windows.
My long term goal is a diesel swap. Gas isnt going to get any cheaper and I think the cost per mile is cheaper with diesel even though it can cost more per gallon. The 3.4 is a thirsty little motor. It is great but todays gas prices are starting to be its downfall.
The top bolts are a pain at times. grrr

Started stripping parts from the old engine to prep and install on the new one. It's coming along good so far , just slow.
I'm going to pick up some new radiator hoses for the coolant outlets on the back side of the timing cover(pass side). Just have this fear of one blowing out that's all crusty.
All that's left is to get the lower intake on, injectors sent out, new clutch and flywheel on, and bolt her in.
Here's a few quick pics.

I also got the new throw out bearing pressed on to the housing, so that's ready to go. It's getting closer!

Well I'm finally getting some time to update a little. I was waiting on some parts that felt like they took forever to show up. I needed to get two new throwout bearing clips. And because mines an 85, I have the old style with the two crappy clips.
I had to order them from the dealer and the fella in the parts department accidentally only ordered one, so I had to wait another day. Wasn't a big deal since I have been waiting all this time anyhow.
Then last week I was pulling out my injectors to send out. And found that my #3 injector had a busted nozzle. So I found my rich condition. I never really dug into this as I new I was replacing the engine. So long story short, I ordered some rebuilt ones from auto value, and to my surprise they ended up being rebuilt oem injectors!! I figured I would get some crappy off brand.
Anyhow here's a few pics.

Here the engines bolted to trans and frame mounts. And have lower intake on

New injectors

Finished up the day today with all the EFI installed

And now with the comp cams break in additive along with the valvoline

All I have left is to install the radiator, coolant, double check wiring, and do a once over on the engine.
Then hopefully I can fire it up and break in the cam.
I'll post what I get done tomorrow.
